This box holds 4 aaa batteries. with rechargeables my meter reads around 5.15 to 5.30 volts with a freshly charged set of batteries.
With Lithium aaa throw away (recycleable) batteries, it reads about 6.4 t0 6.55 volts on fresh batteries.
This isnt very big, as you can see compared to the laser which is pretty small. But it can run at 5 volts and vape most the day, without having to use the regulators, diodes, resistors, or whatever else we have been using in our mods. Just straight forward battery to switch to atty to ground connection.
And these batteries are readily available anywhere. Im sure most people have a NiMH charger with batteries.

It was meant to be a portable charging device for cell phones. It had a small resistor in it that I discarded for the mod. Other than that, one hole drilled for the button, and made the connection hole bigger for the atty, and It was one of the simplest mods for anyone to make.
I found it at A Big-Lots store for 3$.

I just finished making something similar. It is a USB battery case with four (4) AA batteries. Thanks to rannie for giving this case to me. I can vape the whole day with this.

would you know where he got that case? have been trying to look for one around here in manila...but cant seem to find any..i did come across one of those emergency cell phone charging devices..but the voltage is 5.5v...would that be too high for a 501 atty? heard that hi voltage adds to faster wear on the atty...

thanks!

So I got to Big Lots not expecting to have any luck. I wasn't disappointed. They didn't have It.

I have been looking around whenever I was out, found some neat flashlights for a dollar, no luck on the box or anything similar. Looked on the Internet and if I want to buy them in bulk from China I can get a bunch.

Tonight I was telling my wife what I was trying to do. She said she had a free gift at home someone had given her. It was for charging cell phones. Well it's almost identical to the one Shreck used. It's been sitting 30 feet from me this whole time.

Then I tell her I need a charger. More luck, my son has one he doesn't use anymore.

Now If I had just ordered the 510 battery connector when I first started looking I would be using it now.
