My latest package has decided that Illinois to Pennsylvania was too cold and took an excursion to Puerto Rico.

I've gotta say that after like a month's worth of orders, I am completely SICK of USPS. Orders taking a four-day nap in Philadelphia, side trips to Puerto Rico...

I can has UPS please?
Pwetty pwease?

God forbid I ever had an order emergency - it might be a week and a half I'm caught short because of USPS and their inability to do what they get PAID to do.

Forgive me, but I have a hard time having a sense of humor over this. Nine days from IL to PA? Side trips to Puerto Rico? That's hardly amusing. I'm glad y'all are only having the occasional problem, or amusing inconsistency in tracking, but I've become extremely disappointed and increasingly frustrated with their ham-fisted service. I'd pay for UPS in a heartbeat.

I'm sorry Stephra, I know it can be horribly frustrating. I've dealt with a lot of the more irritating problems from USPS that you're talking about. It's basically the reason I cut up over things like this, if you don't laugh over it, you'll end up driving yourself nuts.

I know this is a pretty obvious question, but I have to ask anyway. Have you called USPS and asked them WHY your package is currently taking a siesta in Puerto Rico? I've found in the past that if I made frequent phone calls demanding some answers that they tend to get sick of hearing from me and straighten things out.

Mandy I feel for ya. No goodies for me today either. Hubby is on his last Hilton cart too. So hopfully tomorrow.
I placed my very first order on a wednesday, and didn't recieve it until the following monday. Second order, placed on a friday, had it by monday. This order, placed saturday, got the shipped e-mail monday. USPS first said 'no record of this item', now 'we've recieved shipping info yada yada yada'. What really gets me, I'm only 8 hours from Chicago. Less than 500 miles. USPS really needs to get themselve togather.

my last package left florida and had a nice vacation in hawaii for about three days (priority is guaranteed at two-three mind you) and when i called to make a claim (god help you if you try to talk to a person there) after much ado, it magically appeared in my mailbox the next day! Amazing what happens when you say "you lost it, you pay for it" ;)

You have heard of Next Day Air of course.

A little known fact is that UPS discovered Yesterday Air in 2008 and quickly disbanded the research group and destroyed all documentation associated with it.

The way it worked was you would order something lets say on 3/31, pick Yesterday Air as your option. You received the product on 3/30.

The problem was who is going to pay the high price for Yesterday Air service for something they all ready have? No one. Also who is going to order anything that was received yesterday?

Hence the cover up

Actually, Priority mail is not guaranteed. From the USPS' web site at http://faq.usps.com/eCustomer/iq/usps/request.do?create=kb:USPSFAQ&view%28%29=c{12adaeb0-57e2-11dc-51b6-000000000000}

"Priority Mail service / Priority Mail Flat Rate: Typically two to three days to most locations in the US (Specific delivery standards may be available when postage is calculated). This is not a guaranteed service."

And, their description of First Class;

"First-Class Mail: Estimated delivery time is two to three days."

Looks like packages can't be sent via via First Class however. Parcel Post and Media Mail delivery is estimated at 5 days.

As far as rates go, here is a comparison; 4.95 for Priority small flat rate box, 10.19 UPS and 9.40 FedEx for a 1 lb package, all from Chicago IL with my zip as a destination example. Both UPS and FedEx are guaranteed date delivery, but times can range between 1 and 5 days. On the other hand, I read somewhere that the post office's success rate for Priority delivery is between 77 and 85% depending on the time of year, compared to somewhere in the 90s for UPS and FedEx.

Yeah, I think I would pay the extra $4.45 if it was offered. :pervy:

Ok, I am officially worried that I will not have my beloved 555 tomorrow.... USPS is updated but they say they were just notified by shipper today?!?!?!?! UGHHHHH

When did you receive your shipping notice from V4L? If I were you I would try to keep a positive attitude at this point, since my own USPS tracking still says they sent my stuff from their sorting facility on Monday and got notice of shipping on Tuesday.

I stand corrected. For shame on me, I ship priority mail everyday at my job. I do national and international shipping. I shouldn't have said guaranteed. I also know how most of the suppliers feel on here as the company I work for is a small business (i'm one of four people who work there and two of those people are the owners) It can be a nightmare dealing with the USPS. Their site goes down at least once a month for the whole day from some error or another. Thankfully I don't deal with a product as cherished and waited on as a person's PV or liquid, lol.

I've found in the past that if I made frequent phone calls demanding some answers that they tend to get sick of hearing from me and straighten things out.

Well, Rich has been on the phone with USPS over three separate packages in the past month. That's out of the FOUR packages we've ordered in March.

They said it's possible that the package isn't actually in Puerto Rico, it might have gotten that scan by mistake. He said to call tomorrow if it hasn't arrived and he might be able to track it down.

We order a lot of stuff online - we live in a rural area and often it's easier to find what we want online than it is to hope the nearest Walmart has it. Most places use UPS and we've been extremely well-served by them. Transparent tracking, stuff arrives mostly within five days anywhere US, and always in excellent condition. I guess I'm probably spoiled by that.

Our local service is no great shakes - we've been having problems with it for the eight years we've lived here. Sometimes we flat out DON'T GET some of our mail. Our carrier is a privately contracted woman who hangs out the right hand side of a beat-up station wagon with a bubble light on top. We don't even have regular mail trucks.

So yeah, there's no love lost between USPS and me.

If I'd been more experienced when I joined this forum I would have taken the screen name "ProcessedthroughSortFacility"

Lol! Nice Paul, almost worth changing accounts for. ;)

@Stephra; Boy, does the mail delivery thing sound familiar. At one place we lived I ended up getting mail delivered 4 YEARS from the date it was sent. Definitely not Guinness book worthy, but still. Anyway, sending positive thoughts toward you and your package.

Congrats to those who got theirs today, now cross your fingers for the rest of us! :)

Yes...that's right...I ordered two weeks ago. Apparently it's been sorted in Philly 3 times (that's like 30 minutes from my house) and it's been out for delivery 3 times also. The truth? It's not out for delivery...I don't think they know where it is.

This is my first order with V4L...I've ordered over $1,500 worth of product from other sites in the past 8 weeks and had zero problems with USPS.

Why is everyone having this issue with their V4L packages?

I was told that if it wasn't delivered yesterday that V4L would resend my order today. I was told to call this morning...I called...left a message...no call back...called again...and again and no one picked up.

I'll wait till tomorrow and see if I get a call...if I don't...then I'm going to start getting angry.
