LOL. Must be the “naked” I have like 20 nic salts and none taste like salt. Then again I’ve never snorted table salt. The same goes for nic salts and pods. Takes a bit to break in. Actually nic salts and pods take a bit longer because you don’t take a long draw and it’s less powerful so requires more draws. Just my experience.

If you didn’t completely change the coil then it’s already wicked just needs to filter out the old juice completely. And I’ve found with nic salts that the first 10-20 drags are overly strong, then it starts to mellow down to a nice throat hit. It takes getting use to nic salts, the flavor isn’t going to be as “great” but more for getting nicotine quick. Not sure the mg of nicotine you have but most of the time it’s alot. Nicotine will eliminate some flavor but in my experience it doesn’t replace it with a different flavor, just less potent. This wouldn’t help with your flavor issue but the way I got use to nic salts and still do to this day is I just a few drops in a tank.

Sounds like the salt wasn't completely mixed in or they added too much of the 'salt' for the nic to absorb. I had this happen to me when I purchased a litre of nic salts and the last third of the bottle showed the salt just sitting on the bottom of the bottle.

I'm confused.

Where exactly do you think the saltiness is coming from? What we usually equate to saltiness comes from table salt... sodium chloride.

In the vaping world; nicotine "salts" is referring to an ionic compound that is nicotine based. No sodium chloride is involved. It is a process of adding an acid to the freebase form of nicotine which alters the pH and creates a new/different ionic compound.

you might like to read Salt (chemistry)

I am not a nic salt user (yet anyway), but I tend to read most of the salt discussions I come across, and I can't recall ever coming across another vaper saying they tasted salty nic salts. I'm still...

I don't really understand this whole evolution, and it seems like it's really gaining ground. I did a good bit of reading on it to find out, and I did learn a good bit but I'm still not sure of the basic premise. From what I've looked into it's all about using a higher level of nic and a lower level of power, to get what most articles describe as a level of satisfaction equal to a cig. OK, I get that. But.....I had a 45 year 3 PAD habit and for most of that time it was unfiltered cigs. I started vaping 5 years ago, using 24mg, and after the first try I NEVER went back at all to the cigs. I still use 24mg, cause I'm happy with that level. And my wattage is usually around 12 to 15 watts. So, I get my nic level, my throat hit and I'm using relatively low power. Which is why I don't understand the whole salt thing. I AM open to fresh ideas, otherwise I would be still smoking:facepalm:, but I'm confused at this development. I am however in favor of ANYTHING that gets folks off cigs.

I know what table salt is. I don't know why it tastes salty. That is why I asked.

It was a question. These are my tastebuds. Maybe try some nic salts in a Suorin Air and then tell me what you think?
Try the salts in your Zenith and see if you get the same result.

They were inexpensive. I just wanted to see what it was all about. I wanted to get more nic per stealth drag.

I planned to try them in the Zenith at low wattage just to see if the Suorin was too hot. I read somewhere that high wattage can make it taste bad, but it doesn't taste horrible - just salty.
Should not taste salty from the nic salts. Perhaps they used saline in the juice. Those are 2 Naked 100 juices I haven’t tried.

I use nic salts and they don't taste "salty" to me. With that said, try the juices in some other mods and see the result, sure. I guess it's possible you got a batch that wasn't great. My 100 mg/ml nic salts don't taste salty to me, and they're not made using benzoic acid. Salt is typically not used to prepare nic salts, in fact you need a type of acid (benzoic, malic, and citric acid) are what are typically used. It may be the lack of harshness you are feeling, it could be a lot of things.

If there's a way to do a double blind taste test (not sure there would be) you may be able to determine if you are identifying that taste from the nic salts or not, although I guess it's possible that saline water may have been used in your particular bottle's preparation. The lack of nic "taste" does make certain flavors taste different (in DIY) if you ask me but I don't think I'd describe it as "salty".

I've been using DIY nic salts for about 8 or 9 months, but my respiratory system was TORN UP when I got here, the last thing I wanted was a "throat hit."

After I use up my nic salts though, I may pull a regular freebase nic from the freezer though. I think I'm ready for it. LOL.

I found some Naked100 nic salts (Mango and Green Blast) on sale for $10, so I got a couple of bottles. I tried them in my Suorin Air and the taste is like sniffing table salt. I didn't think nic salts would actually taste like table salt with a hint of the actual fruit flavor. Am I doing it wrong?
You clearly have a bad batch. First there is no actual salt used to make salt juices. It refers to a chemical that is similar to salt. The mason thing about salt liquids is that they can be vaped at higher nicotine levels at higher temps. So sub-omh high temp vapers can now enjoy higher nicotine content. Many say they are smoother too.

Well there are alot of advantages to using nic salts..first off it allows you to vape high nic levels and have a very smooth vape. the second reason you can use high nic levels and the flavor of the juice is not as affected as it would be using the same strength of free base nic, and lastly nic salts oxidize alot slower than free base nic.
