So I got my joye 510 last nite and so far I really like it. I didn't think it would be too similar to smoking but it's pretty close to smoking an actual cig. I just have a couple of questions. First, I bought some ejuice with my order so how often should I refill my cartridges? And second, I used to smoke marlboros so I bought the marlboro ejuice, but I don't really like the flavor. Any suggestions on what flavor to get that you all enjoy?? Thanks to everyone for all the help so far, you guys are great.

Some answers:

Refill your cartridges as they get dry. Assuming you have the standard 510 cartridges (not something larger), that's probably around the equivalent of 3-4 cigarettes worth of use. If you start getting a burnt taste, it's definitely time to refill.

juice taste is pretty personal, and what one person likes another will hate. However if you're looking for that analog taste I've been told PureCig from FSUSA is about the closest you'll get. Note that "tobacco" flavors are going to taste more like the un-burned tobacco smells in a cigarette rather than the ashy flavor from actually smoking. I'd recommend checking out the suppliers forums and getting a bunch of 5ml samples from multiple places. I've had good luck with FSUSA, Backwoods Brew, Gourmet Vapor, and VapeRite but there are plenty of other juice companies that you can try.

A drip tip is exactly how it sounds -- a tip that you plug into your atomizer instead of a cartridge that allows you to drip juice directly onto the atomizer. Many people prefer to drip rather than refilling carts all the time. You'll get 3-5 puffs off of every 2-3 drips or so, which means it's more work to do but you also get better flavor (not muted by the filler) and you don't risk the cartridge running dry. For now, I'd suggest sticking to your carts until you're comfortable with vaping. Read a bunch of info here and in the ECF library, and then see where it takes you.

Carts - whenever the atty seems to be getting too hot or the vapor is light or dry or if you notice any kind of burnt taste - that's when you add some liquid to the cart and make sure the stuff is positioned well and not pushed down.

Dripping - If you bought a manual battery it is safe to drip. 510 manual batteries are sealed on the end (autos are open and have a drag sensor in there you can kill or gunk up if juice drips). You can use the empty dummy cart that came on your atomizer or use a drip tip - you drip 2-3 drops on the atty bridge /\ wait a minute for it to soak down to the coil, put on the dummy cart and vape. When the vapor gets light, add another drop or 2 at most. With a drip tip, you can do the dripping right through the wide mouthhole then shake downward a bit to make sure the juice goes down.

Buy some cartomizers too - try the standard resistance Boge soft-caps cartomizers (not LR - those are not for slim 510 batteries). I have seen them at LiteCigUSA.net and elsewhere. You need to fill them well at first and make sure all of the stuffing is damp - give them a change to disperse the juice after the first fill (if you don't, you could singe and ruin it). About an ml should fit in. Fill it when off the battery and I hold a tissue on the threaded end - clean up any drips well then puff into the threaded end to clear the air channel clean up any loose juice above the stuffing that won't soak in. You can vape a lot longer on a carto without adding juice. When the vapor gets light or dry in a way that tilting the ecig carto down for 5 seconds won't fix, take it off the battery and add more juice. If you keep it damp you should be able to get a week or more use out of one of those cartos and then some people are successful with cleaning and drying them (but they are meant to be disposable). If you have auto batteries be especially careful about juice drips! You could kill your battery.

Spares - I recommend you have at least 3 batteries total, and 3 atomizers (so you can clean/dry one while using one and have a total spare too). I also have full charging setups at work and home.

Cart stuffing (for the carts you use with the atomizer) - buy some of the precut blue foam for 510 carts at stritlyejuice.com (I think 75 cents for 10). When the white stuffing gets old and cranky, try replacing with blue foam.

Welcome! I am fairly new, too. It really is amazing isn't it!

Refilling depends on how much you used to smoke, how much nic %, how much you end up vaping, etc. How long does a cartridge last you now? A little more info would help.

I am learning that everyone's taste is different. I expected to like tobacco flavors and have not found one that completely satisfies. I could never stand Menthol cigs, but shockingly I love to vape menthol. You are going to at least try a few juices (buy some samples from reputable recommended suppliers) and at least start to hone in on what you will like.

Best of luck!

Millah.... Another thing I think will help you is to go to YouTube and do a search on 'filling ecig cartridges'. I think it will help you quite a bit to actually watch different people filling their carts. Most people start vaping using the carts... then they graduate to the drip tips. it's all a matter of personal preference though. When I first tried a drip tip, I thought it was a little odd and would quickly go back to using carts. Now, however, I can't remember the last time I used a cartridge.... But I strongly recommend you get comfy with the carts first though.

It sounds like you're on the right track so far.

Good luck!

Re juices - from the front page of New Members use Search Forum to search for Marlboros, or Marlboro or Tobacco and look at threads where the title is asking for tobacco or Marlboro flavors
Here are some threads
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...losest-tasting-juice-marlboro-red-smoker.html
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/147844-looking-tobacco-e-juices.html
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/116168-real-tobacco-flavors.html

Also check the thread in the New Member sticky thread about tobacco flavor - starts out with some guy claiming people don't need tobacco flavor but the thread is full of tobacco flavor suggestions

You just have to try a bunch. Nobody can tell you what will remind you of Marlboros. And remember to SMELL the vapor - let some slip out of your mouth so your nose can catch ti on the inhale. Cigs bathe you in smoke - ecigs don't. Most of flavor is aroma with tobacco juices.

I like FreedomSmokeUSA Desert Ship (Turkish blend) as an analog-replacement and it has other fans too. It reminds me of the smell of a freshly opened pack. And I would change it up with their vanillas, and their chocolate and their oRYental 4 (sweet). Many like Backwoods Brew's tobaccos too. If you don't like Desert Ship then you may not like any Turkish blends so you'll at least learn something. ANd I recommend FreedomSmokeUSA's Cocoa (I get 70pg/30vg) for toning down the sweetness in any too-sweet tobacco you get and it adds some rich body too.
