Root Beer Rumor ?

I read somewhere that Root Beer flavoring would eat up plastic tanks.
I can't find that post/article.
Does anyone out there have any experience with flavors that distroy equipement?
I have an Ego-T- plastic tanks, silicone seals.
I am waiting on an order of flavorings from TFA/TPA and rootbeer is one of them.
I spent 2 days researching and saw the rootbeer comment about 5 seconds after I clicked confirm order.

Not sure where or what you been reading in rumorville, cause i have 1 in my tank and been using for over 2 months w/no issues and tastes good to lol ......

Just checked with my buddy that uses Root Beer from Mr E and he has had no probs with his tanks.

I have heard cinnamon and citrus will eat the tanks.

I think *maybe* cola, but never heard about Root Beer. I guess Ginsu answered that part for you though.

There is a running thread here of flavors that have cracked or melted polycarbonate plastic.

Unfortunately for you, it looks like TPA Rootbeer flavoring is on the list.

It is the polycarbonate plastic that is vulnerable to certain flavors. It is always clear in appearance.

Pyrex glass and polypropylene plastic (frosted appearance) are immune and safe to use.

There is a thread on here somewhere that gives the flavors that cause probs with clearos will try to find. Some of the newer tanks are able to handle it fine. Seems it was a problem in tanks that use the plastic black grommets but not sure. If I can't find someone will prob post it. I am sure root beer is in that list.

Yep I put a post on diy juice. I had TPA Root Beer eat up my clearo tip to the point of turning to goo. It frosted the tank. here is a list of flavors that will melt/crack tanks.

I tossed out the tank of my repairable Clearo, the tip and the flavor. If you go with glass, metal it will not eat that up and Polypropylene to a lesser degree. But there are some that will eat up even a Poly tank. Like a friend of mine had a Vivi Nova tank melt with a cinnamon . I plan on not using the flavors on that list because if it will eat up plastic what will it be doing to us?????
