First couple hits... were kinda rough on me... watching some of the video reviews of people sampling different liquids... I imagined I could handle a pretty nice drag...

Kind of choked a little, coughed a bit, and slowly took another drag... didn't blow out any vapor but the taste was awesome. Not sure if it was because of a 2 pack a day habit or... just something different... slowly adapting tho.

Does it get gentler as the analogs slowly disappear from sight?

Welcome Dunkin! Yes, it will "get gentler" as you get used to vaping. Alot of folks when first trying an ecig directly inhale into their lungs (like they're smoking something we won't mention) and of course, that's gonna choke you up! Take the vapor into your mouth first, then into your lungs and exhale. Don't hold it in your lungs either or you won't exhale much vapor. If after several days it is still irritating to you, you may want to try vegetable glycerine (VG) instead of propylene glycol (PG) based e-liquids.

Make sure the nic level you have isn't too high for you. Its very easy to get this wrong at first as none of us know what our 'comfort level' might be.
I was an ultra light smoker and prefer 12mg for an all day vape, 24mg is a little strong (but i can tolerate it just have to be careful) and that was what I started on. First few times just about blew my throat out :D 18mg is also ok for me. Also, vendors products vary.
12mg off one vendor may taste very light, and 18mg off another may be too strong. Its a real balancing act and takes a bit to get right. Get plenty of dfferent juices at differnt strengths and you will work out whats best for you. ANy left overs you will probably find a way to vape once you get used to it ;)

After about 6 days of vaping I have noticed some tongue/throat irritation. Now I am starting to look around for some VG to cut my liquid with, as Im pretty sure it is mostly PG I am currently using. I really hope this helps, and everything I have read on here says it will! So bottoms up! Sometimes I dont get a throat hit but have been reccommended to put a couple of drops of pga, I have yet to try it but will soon when the money gets back up to par... hehe :)

So if after a few days you start to feel uncomfortable, I would do what I am about to and get some VG to cut things down a little. :)

Welcome to the forum Dunkin! It will get easier after a couple of days of trying what works for you. Some find drawing into the mouth and then into the lungs is what works and some find that drawing directly into the lungs is what works for them. As someone said above, long, slow draws will produce the best results. :) Remember to drink more fluids as vaping seems to dehydrate you more than analog smoking and if your throat seems a little sore, that is natural. It should disappear after a couple of days. Vaping is a learning process to find what works for you. Good Luck and Happy Vaping!:D
