All of my juices are going bland after the 3rd exhale and taste dry. They also leave the back of my mouth dry. I started making with astarter kit from one stop diy shop I got a 50/50 Base nic liquid and pg diluent. I also went to wall-mart to buy USP %99.5 Humco glycerine. Flavor wise I have 5 TFA flavors. Lemon Lime Cooler, Hawaiian Drink Flavor, Tutti-Frutti, Cotton Candy, Sour Additive along with Flavor West Ecto Cooler. I can't vape Lemon Lime cooler and Hawiian Drink Flavor by themselves from 3%-15% without the last part of the exhale tasting like a shoe. My bottle of Hawaiian Drink e-juice from VAPR has the same shoe taste as the flavor from TFA. To test I use a Spirit dripping atty and then once im satisfied with the flavor it moves to the kayfun. Once its in the Kayfun I can tell whether or not its worth putting in my Erlkonigin. I'm wicking with cotton and I simply make several wicks for the dripping atty. The kayfun gets a new one each time thats soaked with juice and left to sit for awhile and I attempt to vape on it for an entire day. They are also mixed first in 10ml no nic bottles.

My Recipe
Fruit Flavor MKII

Hawaiian Drink Flavor 12%
Tutti-Frutti Flavor 8%
Sour Flavor 3%
Cotton Candy 5%

PG/VG
60/40

I started these flavors at 3% and worked my way up to these percentages. Flat out bland after three puffs and incredibly dry.

So after more reading more guides I tried just making one flavor great. I choose Flavor Wests Ecto Cooler.

My recipe
Ghost 1
Ecto Cooler 17%
Cotton Candy 5%

PG/VG
50/50

I can consistently get flavor out of this one with each puff but it still leaves the back of my mouth dry. I'm used to Freedomsmokes Blue Dew, Ectoplasm and Frostbite. Juicy Vapors' Doc Holiday, Ecto Plamsa, Ecto Chill, Insomnia Mentha and Blue Happiness. Goodlife Vapor's Eve's Mistake and Fuzion Vapors' Poison Apple. They taste great and smell strong and they either make me salivate or the dry mouth is minimal. I read that goodlife is mixing at 60/40 and the rest of these are pretty watery.

None of my juices smell bad Fruit Flaver MKII smells nice but I really have to put it to my nose to smell it. I can't up the amount of flavoring because I know that its not going to taste good. I try to stick to the 80 G-Liquid\20 Flavoring ratio. I have even added 1-3 drops of Sky Vodka and it doesn't help. For now these juices are going to sit on my shelf.

Thanks for reading

I'm no whiz bang at this but it sounds like you are not steeping and perhaps using too much flavor. Oddly, using too much flavor is like not using enough, it's bland. Also, the % used with one flavor doesn't necessarily work with another. There is the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/336110-flavor-apprentice-flavoring-thread.html which is only 236 pages long so far. They were keeping a running tally of what percentages worked best. I'll see if I can find it and post the link.

Found the last update http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...entice-flavoring-thread-232.html#post13490447

For example, they have this listed "Lemon Lime Flavor 5% 4/5." That means it was recommended by an ECFer to mix at 5% and they think the taste rates a 4 out of five.

There's this one, "Licorice(not listed) 3%- 10% 5/5 long steep time (weeks)." 3%- 10% means, or it used to when I was following it, if mixed with other flavors use 3% or more, 10% by itself. If you can find it and use it, you'll have to steep it until Christmas to taste good. Five out five, it might be worth it.

The percentages can get confusing, just ask and someone will help. What is in bold is what is a new addition to the list. Good luck.

The TFA Hawaiian is recommended at 12% so perhaps it just hasn't sat around long enough. It's also a personal taste thing too. I tried it and never did think it tasted like Hawaiian Punch, other people rabidly disagree. I'm hooked on Vanilla Cupcake, of all things, 10%, no steeping. Same with Key Lime. I'm sure other people hate it with a passion. They do share a lot of recipes in that thread.

One other thing, when you try a recipe don't put in the nicotine, wait until you find what works and you'll save money, trust me on that. :)

TFA Hawaiian is one of my ADV and I tried it at 12% and it was not enough. Maybe my taste buds are shot but I rarely mix it that low. I'm at 17% for mine.

There you go, everybody is different. But, AbbandonZK has 28% flavoring in that Hawaiian, four different flavors and, it seems, no steeping going on.

Ok 17% Hawaiian and 8% cotton candy is consistent and smooth as is the ecto i mixed up at 17% and 5% cotton candy. 6% was too low. However during the process I opened my drawer and accidentally vaped my MKI fruit flavor while reaching for my ecto. Its 10X more rougher than before but the flavor is there consistently but its not good flavor. Thank goodness I labeled them. I looks like I work with low steep time flavors and start off on just two flavors at a time if I'm going to mix. Thanks everyone for your help. How Ironclad is the 80 G liquid\ 20 flavor rule?
