I purchased an RSST and tried the wick style setup and found it to be ok as far as providing vapor and taste. I went to the Local Vape Shop in Metairie and was introduce to Mech style vaping with its extreme vapor production capacities. It was an interesting experience but considered the consiquence of having to have several full batteries on hand along with a dripper type head and a need to carry a bottle of juice with me. Sooo I thought about it for a moment and considered what if I set up a cotton wicking base in the RSST along with a wide coil to increase the surface contact in the cotton base.....

Well heres what I came up with 1.7 ohms in cotton

only issue with this setup is that it doesnt "auto"wick I need to tilt the unit and pull a vacuum on the mouth piece to pull juice into the cotton on occasion. But it does produce quite a bit of vapor along with great flavor, more so than my Protank can deliver.

anyone else out there doing this method on RSST's or other units similar to this???

Just make a vertical Micro-coil and run your cotton through it, and have the other end in the tank.

It's just like a rda/rba at that point. No need to tilt as it'll wick itself.

I tried that but cotton takes a loooooong time to wick any juice up. Do you have any tips?

I tried using cotton on my Fogger earlier tonight. Replacing the ekowool & silica setup in there from the day before. I think the cotton provides more vapor cloud, but didn't wick the juice as quickly as the ekowool and silica combination did.

I like your idea on the RSST, my son has one but doesn't like the fuss of rebuilding. He's a pro tank = fill and vape kind of guy...might have to try this on the RSST.

And wanted to agree I think cotton wicks slower than silica or ekowool does.

Not considered micro by some. But, I do a micro type (not sure what they are calling this size. mini?) on a 5/64" drill bit and use P&C cotton yarn. Wicks great!

When it comes to cotton, "less is more"... You don't need to use very much at all. Too many people over wick with it and end up choking off the coil. Too long of tails and you will experience longer wicking times.

Actually, the term is a macro coil... Coined by the almighty one... super_X_drifter

What is. p&c cotton yarn and where do you get it? Thanks in advance

Peaches and Cream... It is a brand name, I believe sold at Walmart.

thanks

I'll have to check it out

set up a 9 wrap 28g kanthal and wound it over a paperclip. I got 0.9ohms and the cotton I'm using doesnt keep up too well. I tailed it down into the RSST and fluffed the cotton under the coil (not through) so the coil is resting on the cotton. flavor and throat hit is a bit too intense with 24mg juice so I need to dial down the nic a bit. Now just need to get better wicking or just start dripping. I've got a scorpion coming in the vape mail today and it has that sweet drip tip with it so we'll see.
