Hello ECF,

So I got my RSST in the mail yesterday and rolled a nice wick and coil for it. I only have a pro-vari so note I didn't have a mech mod to pulse or anything. My pro-vari reads my ohms at 1.5 (absolutely perfect to where I wanted it), did this on the first try somehow. Anywho, I am vaping it at 3.7 and I do taste the juice perfectly but these is only a little vapor coming after a long pull. What could be the issue? I oxidized my wick the coils seemed to be glowing pretty damn evenly before I put juice in and my pro-vari still reads it at 1.5- 1.6. I thought it wouldnt read if there was a problem with the wick? I am truly confuzzled on why the vapor production is so low. I thought RBA's were supposed to vape like a train. I am ussing 500 mesh, 30 kangal wire. Not tasting any metallic taste on the juice, tastles absolutely perfect just very little vapor. Any and all tips, tricks would be appreciated.

Try giving it a little more voltage, and drip some juice directly onto the coil and see what happens. Sounds to me like it may not be wicking fast enough (keep in mind, unless the wick is absolutely perfect, which can be difficult to do, you will usually need to tilt) and may just need a little more power. 1.5ohm is relatively high compared to the .7-.9 that many people use at 3.7-4V on a mechanical.

Also, the airhole on the RSST is very small. I drilled mine out to about .056 in (a little under 1/16) and have been very happy with it.

I may try doing that tonight. Seems to me like that may have been the issue just wasn't sure. Can't wait to get my mech mod to get to vape heaven. Was very suprised that I wrapped my wick and coil pretty easily... Then again I did watch about 50 videos.

when I bought my rsst from captivape, they have an option ($2.50) to have them drill it out to a specific (larger) size. I had mine drilled out to 1.3 and I like it that size. I have a DID that is 1/16 (huge air hole) and I like it even better, I just wish it had the spring catch and insulated wick hole LOL

Even with the stock air hole you should be getting decent vapor. Not to offend but I have to ask...is the air hole lined up with the wick?

Also could be a wicking issue. I pull the fill hole plug out still...that would help with wicking. And try bumping up the voltage a little bit and see if that helps.

I made sure the air hole is lined up with the wick yes. I did at first have the fill plug out when I first tried it and it was leaking everywhere so I put it back on. Honestly I can't remember much of a difference but will try tonight when I am home and see if there is a difference. Think it's just going to take some trial and error. I may even try to make a even better mesh, coil combo. What is the preferred coil wrap so optimum use? I wish I had my RBA with me here at work and could be telling you the exacts of everything but if im not mistaken its a 4/3.

2/3 of 32 awg Kanthal gets me around 1 ohm so 4/3 at 1.5 ohm sounds about right. As for the preferred number of wraps...that's just personal preference. I like my coils between 1 and 1.5 ohms (preferably 1 ohm) because I mostly use them on mechanicals. With the Provari it doesn't matter as much since you can adjust the voltage. FWIW I vape 1 ohm coils on my Provari all the time and it works great...just have to start on the lowest voltage and work my way up.

I've built plenty of coil/wick combos and have become a fair hand at determining how well they will work before I add the liquid but I still have to make several attempts more often than not to get to that point. Practice makes perfect!

What do you mean when you say you start on the lowest voltage and work your way up? You mean "pulsing"? I am trying to figure out the best way to pulse on a pro-vari, with a mech it seems so easy. I just had a real pain last night getting all my coils to glow evenly. I only had the top and bottom glowing at first.
