Its me again with more RSST news and questions. :) I recieved my RSST yesterday, rolled my first wick, wrapped my first coil (much harder then it looks in the videos lol) and finally filled with juice and started vaping, just like everyone has said the flavour is absolutely amazing but the vapor production is about equal to that of a 3.7 v un-regulated battery. you know like the Volcano Inferno kit. Also the throat hit is Tremendous and destroys the vaping experience. This leads me to my questions

My questions:

1. By Drilling out the air hole to 1.2-1.6 mm this should allieviate the lack of vapor and the throat hit correct?

2. My wick seems a little short, what are the dimensions of the wire mesh unrolled that YOU are using?

Happy vaping All!!

Make sure hole is lined up with the wick, sometimes the wick gets bent wrapping the coil, so lining it up with what you see in the tank doesn't always work. I usually take out the drip tip and look inside the atty to line it up.
Also check to see if there are any gaps between the coil and wick since that can sometime cause undesirable effects.
Drilling out may work as well, several people have stated that they have gotten harsh hits from the stock hole size. Although if you like the tighter draw I suggest you troubleshoot everything else first before drilling.
Smaller hole usually gives better flavor but less vapor and the reverse is true for a bigger air hole in my experience.

As for the wick size you want it as long as you can get it without touching the bottom or the top cap. I like to roll my wick super tight, thick and as long as I can get it.

I drilled mine out to 1.2mm. That's about right for me.
As for mesh dimensions: 90 to 100mm x about 36mm tall. Once rolled, trim the height to even with the top of the center post screw.

Not much vapor and harsh throat hit = a poorly set-up coil.

Sorry to be 'harsh', but it will produce a great deal of vapor if it's set up correctly.

What are you using it on? What is the resistance of the coil?

not always, the rsst has a tiny air hole, and yes if drilled out there will be more vapor and less harsh of a hit.
i drilled mine out to 1/16 which is where i like most of my RBA's at.

OP: "rolled my first wick, wrapped my first coil (much harder then it looks in the videos lol)"

My money is on hotspots, not needing a larger airhole (although I agree that the RSST's is tiny).

I agree that's very possible but he said the flavor is amazing so I just kinda rules that out.

I think its the airhole... its too small on the RSST. I had the same problem with both the RSST and the AGA-T+... great flavor but anemic vapor and wicked TH. Drilled them out to 1/16th, same coil and wick, and dramatic improvement.

Don't go too big. I made that mistake on my RSST by going from 1/16 to 5/32nd (more is better, right?). The flavor dropped off quite a bit but gobs of vapor. I found 1/16th worked perfectly on my AGA-T and would stick with that going forward.

I'm in the same boat as the OP I keep making sure hot spots are gone, ohms are holding at 2.2, filed the air hole out a little bit but I think I'm missing on flavor more than anything. These things are tricky.

I'm the OP. I neverlacked on flavor but the TH was huge. ended up mellowing it out by drilling to 1/16th, re-did the coils at about 2.5 ohm. cut a new wick, this time rolling it with a big straw hole through it, wicks like a champ, tons of thick white vapor, and enough TH to let you know you've just taken a massive hit. def. a much more airy draw, but I'm starting to really like it

Yeah, I shoulda been more specific. I meant I had just jumped into this stuff, and I just got them same setup. I also did tons of research, and I feel like I have a good idea of what I'm doing, yet I get better flavor from clearos. Sorry I'm kinda off topic, just commenting on the finicky nature of these things. Glad yours is working better!
