I got my first Genesis style atty today. Picked up an RSST @ my local B&M for a good deal, and grabbed some SS Mesh to get started.
First build seemed to be okay, read 1.6 ohms on my meter and my VAMO. Went to prime the coil and popped the negative lead. Started again, did the same 5/4 wrap with 30ga Kanthal, came out 1.5 ohms on my meter but reads 0.0 ohms on my VAMO. I don't understand what might be going on, but I've successfully blown up a c-twist in the process and messed up the insulator in the 510 connector on my VAMO (seems to work okay without it). Here is the pic of the current build.

The VAMO now reads my 1.4 ohm DC build on my octopus @ 9.9 ohms but still fires my iClears and other clearos just fine. Any ideas? See anything funky in that coil? I can't figure this out.
Thanks in advance for the help!
*EDIT*
Alright. I've continuted to mess with the build in the picture. I've removed the wick and further oxidized the top, looks good. replaced into coil and tried to read on the VAMO. I got no read... another 0.0ohm. Decided to mess with it... unscrewed RSST 1/2 turn, got .1ohm, unscrewed another 1.5 turns and it read 1.5 ohms... which is what I expected for the coil I built. Leaving it at that point, I was able to prime the coil, repaired a hot leg on the positive side and now it looks great when I dry fire it... nice and even, red hot and no hot legs or hot spots. Problem is, if i screw it all the way down on the mod it still reads 0.0 ohms and wont fire. Any ideas?
*2nd Edit*
Okay... I feel kinda dumb now. I backed out the center pin a bit more and it worked just fine. I feel like this post should be deleted but maybe if it stays up it will serve a purpose for other beginners with Genesis style attys. I guess the battery tube doesn't like such a solid connection. I still don't understand why the connection was so shoddy... the threading was nice and smooth and it stopped without overtightening...
Extra note... the octopus had its connector jammed in, I've already gotten used to fixing this problem but had my mind elsewhere when it came up, frantically trying to connect things to my mod.
