I've been rebuilding an RSST and protank coils.
On the rsst I do a 3/4 wrap and I try and pulse it on a Vamo. When I first check the ohms on the Vamo it reads around 1.5 ohms.
But when I fire it a little, it fires fine, but then stops, so I check the ohms again and it is at or below 1.1 ohms.
Same thing happens on the protank coils with 4-5 wraps on those.
Just wondering if this is normal for the ohms to drop after first fire. Using 32g Kanthal on both.
Any tips would be great. I must be doing something wrong.
thanks

When i had this problem it was a short. The wick and coil may not be making proper contact, and it causes "wandering" ohms.. If you are using the pulse method because of the taste difference, try oxidizing just the tip of the wick where it makes contact with the coil, and not below. It should give the same flavor. Or you could buy a cheap mech and go to town.

Either on your vamo, or preferably a multimeter, connect the atty head you have rebuilt. Flick it and prod it while testing the ohms and see if it jumps around there. If so, then yes you obviously have a short, and can fiddle with the coil on the multimeter until the ohms stabilize. Grimm Green illustrates this process in his most recent, "Octopus Rebuildable" review video.
