The three I currently have all leak slightly. After 1 day on a mod, ill remove the rsst and the 510 center pin on whatever mod will have a drop on it. Ive never had pooling. After a week of use, still only one drop. I guess I could try some insulators and o rings I have sitting around, but it isnt bad enough to warrant any action on my part.

A larger deck insulator would have been nice. Its just too loose.

The RSST has a poorly sized top post deck insulator. It's too loose, both in the deck, and the center post screw. It doesn't hug the center post screw shaft snuggly. If you have a top deck insulator from an old AGA-T (the original ones with the heavy knurling), it works better. It is more flexible, and fits snuggly on the screw shaft. If you don't have one of these, plumbers' teflon tape is your friend. Wrap enough around the screw shaft to take up the space between the shaft and the insulator. Also, I've found that adding a ss washer on top of the insulator and the spring allows the spring to put more even pressure on the insulator than just the spring alone. The latest RSSTs didn't have this washer. But it's needed, IMO.

I did just that the agat insulator and some Teflon tape and its not leaking anymore, I'm going to get that extra washer too, I can't agree with you more. Thanks!

Glad it worked for you. It did for me. IMO, the washer is also necessary, because the spring, by itself, doesn't put even pressure on the insulator.

As always Rule, you've got the answers. The leaking was one of main, if not only gripes for RSST. I know I have rolls of plumbers tape around here just gotta find it. I also use mine on a mech mod. I'm in the market for a 2nd mech, I know what's out there, and I'm not wanting to stalk sites. I know you mentioned you had three(?), would you care to make a recommendation?

I actually have more than three now. I have a couple Naturals, an MKB-TS, which is a GGTS clone, a Sigelei #13 telescope, an Atmizoo Roller, and an EA. For lower price point, I like the Sigelei #13. For high end, tough to beat the Roller.

Yes I thought read elsewhere you had a few, but your collection was more than I thought. I was looking at the Natural, and know it takes some "tweaking" for optimal performance. A local friend made the Chi-brid, guess that's good name for it. He's selling it, and the remainder of the mod to use normally for a decent price. If cant jump on that, might just go route of Natural...still unsure which "high-end" mech willing to sink money in, or if I like them enough to do so

Someone here took the little rubber top piece from a Vivi Nova head, cut out the inner portion of it, and it fit perfectly as a replacement o-ring for the RSST's center post.

I will try and find a link to the threads with pics, when I get to a PC in the morning.

I just got my RSST and will try this fix, however, mine is also leaking from condensation on the inside of the top cap. The large O-ring seems to fit well, but still get a few drops on the outside. Any way to solve this issue? I like the looks of the RSST and would hate to throw it away.

I've had mine for a couple weeks now and I am happy with the coil connection and wick hole "innovations" this model has. The leaking is a bit annoying though. I've had leaks from the top positive post into the center, and from the top (center) of the tank into the base. The thing that made me nervous when I checked out the design was the post-to-plastic attachment at the 510 connector, but that is the only one that has held up for me. I am sure I will eventually get around to modifying it to solve the problems, but for now mine is cleaned up and stored in the future project drawer.
