RSST on the ProVari

I know we have at least one resident RSST lover... I used to use the AGA-T2 quite a bit, and it did well, but was such a pain in the .... getting a new wick working just right.

I'm not a fan of polypropylene tanks, but I DO like the RSST. It's a pretty ingenious design for a Genny style rba, IMO... Every potential contact point for the wick is insulated from ground, the center pin is spring loaded (Something I did on my AGA-T2)... Only modification I would make is adding another washer to the center pin, so the positive coil lead is sandwiched between two washers.

For folks that are using one on a ProVari:

1) Are you using a ring between the ProVari and the RSST? If so, which one... Pictures?

2) What wick material are you using

3) What size resistance wire are you using, and what is your typical coil resistance?

I like my RSST. But the two ProVari's I have so far wear black caps, and they will never have anything silver on them. So the RSST will remain deligated to the sigelei V5 and mechanical mods... if I ever use them again (I haven't touched any of them since the ProVari's came).

I have this setup. First use an ss wick with a 5/4 wrap of 30g kanthal, worked well. Since got into drippers so it's purpose has changed a bit. Experimenting with cotton wick for use as a self dripper. Have had varied success, most recently set it up this way with a microcoil and enjoyed an entire tank of dense hits with some of the best flavor I've ever tasted but as soon as I refilled the tank I started getting dry hits. Think this was due to a combo of it being a different juice and my learning that I've been rolling my cotton too tight and choking it a bit. The experiment continues. Once I find my perfect setup I will post about it with pics.

I really like using my RSST on the Provari's. I use 28gauge ribbon kanthal around #400 ss mesh. I use it with a Loki ring and have the air hole drilled to 1/16. the thing hits like a beast with excellent flavor. They are so damn easy to build and no worry about shorting or wandering ohms on the coil; what's not to enjoy.

I'm with macman in the post above. 28ga, #400 mesh, 1/16 airhole, and Loki ring. Try to keep my builds~ 1.2 -1.4 ohms. Had cotton/microcoil for awhile but I reverted back to mesh. Not because the cotton wasn't working well, but because I wanted at least one low maintenance kind of atty. Wash the mesh and dry-burn once a week and don't worry about it.

I've since gone to .8 - 1.0 ohm builds so the RSST is back on a mech, but the KFL+ and the Provari were made for each other!
