the rsst is a genesis style rba which means its a top coil that uses a vertical STEELL MESH wick and the coil is wrapped on the STEEL MESH.

The kayfun is a bottom coil, and you would usually use cotton or silica wick down there at the bottom.

So for a first time RBA, I recommend a bottom coil like the Kayfun and not a genesis style because you don't want to be dealing with problems of you coil shorting out on the steel mesh wick.

Anyone have suggestions of which I should get?

I can understand your question if you didnt tried rsst yet :)

Kayfun... Why?

- Simple to build BOTTOM coil, which is always better, its wicks/saturates with juice much faster
- Big tank, no wobbly top cap
- Doesnt get hot
- Adjustable airflow, rsst has only a hole, which is too small anyway and has to be drilled out
- better flavor, better vapor
- its European :D (Rsst - Smoktech - China)

I've got both too.

The Kayfun is an easier build with cotton, ekowool or silica.

Having said that, the build I've got now on the RSST is equally as good as the Kayfun. SS rope, with a cotton sheath on top and a 2.0mm mini coil. Airhole drilled out to 1.5mm. The rope just needs an occasional torching, replace the cotton sheath and dry burn the coil - takes all of 5 minutes to do. I've got loads of the rope that I'll probably never use, seems like an everlasting wicking material to me

Never had a dry hit, flooding issue and I can literally vape the tank dry. I don't store any PV on it's side though, so it may still leak this way.

You don't have to use steal mesh on an rsst. I have used cotton to wick mine and it works fine. The cotton wick helps with leakage but nothing stops leaking on a genesis style if you have it on its side. I have to say I don't use the RSST too much because I prefer dripping but I think its a good choice if your looking for a tank. At first the RSST is also a bit tricky to build on. The kayfun is definitely easier to build and will not leak. Make sure to get a quality clone is your going that route (Hcigar)

There is a glass RSST, the kayfun is a plastic tank. The RSST has a spring load center post that be removed to wind your coil right on the wick sitting in the tank. Also the through hole on the RSST is insulated so the coil can heat from both directions. Wish they made a pyrex kayfun because I do like bottom coils but the RSST is extremely easy to build. Rolled my own mesh and oxidized it my first build ever, worked great.
