Hi all, I am sure that there are a lot of other post concerning the RSST but I figured that I would start my own thread any way. I have one in the mail heading to me right now. It will be the 1st rba for me and I have a few questions that I hope you all can help me out with. First, I like a draw that is more on the airy side like the protank. What size hole would you recommend I drill to get that same kind of draw? Second, I went ahead and ordered sheets of stainless steel mesh from the same vendor that are 3" x 3". I know that the length is no big deal but do I need to trim the width down a little? Going to use 32 gauge kanthal because that is what I use to rebuild my T3's and evods and I still have a lot left on the roll. I do not have any unregulated devices to use it on and I read somewhere that if you use 32 gauge 3 wraps should put you in the 1.5 area. Does that sound about right? Any help or insight would be deeply appreciated!

careful what you wish for. I drilled my rsst out to 1/16", the smallest I could fit one my chuck. wish I could've gone a bit tighter. I believe it comes factory at 1mm. I think I would go 1.2 or 1.3 to start.

my advice is to leave the air hole alone until you have a good idea what your flavor profile is like and work on the wick and cool wraps.

if you already know you like big, airy draws with lots of vapor and not much flavor, 1/16" will fit that bill ;)

32g in a 3-4 wrap netted me 1.7 -2 ohms as read off my provari. I've seen it peak as high as 2.8 after having the rsst bang around in my pocket, so I probably didn't do a 1st rate coil job.

Thanks for replying curisu. I think I will take your advice and just leave the air hole alone at 1st and if it is too tight go to 1.2 and then maybe just up by .1 increments from there if need be. Better too be safe than sorry. Took a lot of trial and error (and still does sometimes) to get the hang of rebuilding my T3's and Evods so needless to say I am a little nervous going in but looking forward to giving it a shot!

I agree with what curious said. I had my RSST drilled out to 1.3 mm and it's just a bit tighter draw than a protank. Go slow, you can never make the hole smaller...well you can but its a PITA. I use 30 ga Kanthal so I can get more wraps. 6/7 wraps netted 1.6 ohms for me...4/5 on a 1/8 drill bit of 32 ga got me 1.3 ohms.

As far as mesh, I see some people using 45 mm width and others using 25 mm. I don't remember what I rolled but it was probably somewhere around 30-35mm. It depends on how tight you roll it and if you roll a solid wick or a straw. Hmmm, going to have to make better notes next time. Oh, and take notes...lots of notes. What resistance for what gauge and wraps on what size mesh and what voltage with what juice.

I drilled my RSST out to 1.3mm and it is better than it was but not near the same as the protank. I use protanks when out and about and the RSST at home.

The wick size you bought is fine. You'll not need to cut any width. I wouldn't use 32awg kanthal wire though. Use 28awg instead. It works better and gives a better flavor.

The RSST puts off a lot of vape, a TON of flavor but the one thing that sucks is how the tank is fitted with o-rings. This means no tossing it in your pocket and running around town as it will come apart.

It's perfect for home use though.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you guys. Was out of town for a while then had some personal issues to deal with when I returned. I did the build with 32 gauge ( 4 wraps for me came out to 1.8 ohms) and I am pretty satisfied but the draw for me is a little tight so I am going to go ahead and drill it out to 1.2 and then go from there. Thank you all for your advice, it is not falling on deaf ears! :)
