The rda is built into the Ruby- the deck and body of the mod are machined from a single piece of bar stock.

Nice.
Didn't see it was a hybrid.
That's interesting. ( a plus in my book)
But it's a Kennedy atty.

And it's actually tube stock unless they enjoy leaving 90% of the brass bar on the shop floor.
;)

Considering the RDA deck + battery tube are machined from a single piece of stock with no welding visible in the well/deck area I'm pretty sure it was bar stock. There would be a viable insert welded or screwed in otherwise.
No, You reduce the end and use the hole for the positive contact.
I used to own a machine shop.
It's possible they use bar stock, but that would make them the most wasteful shop I've ever heard of.
There is no advantage, only waste.
Wasted stock, wasted time, wasted tools.

I actually like it, but don't believe the shop is that wasteful.

Froth provided a testimonial regarding the Kennedy that I had not considered: That because the negative posts are pressed and not milled in as part of the deck, he had experienced the posts disengaging from the deck. Under what circumstances he did not elaborate, but the concern is a valid one related to its inherent design. In short, the Ruby Mod may not be as rock-solid as it seems. ODv2 it is. Thanks for the lively discussion guys :) .

Since you asked I will elaborate. Initially I purchased numerous Kennedy clones, liked them so much that I figured I would buy an authentic or two to give back to the original designer, The authentic I have had issues with is my full brass Kennedy Gremlin, SN0039(Brass deck and cap). When I received it the negative screws were in the posts just as they should be, I backed one of the screws out just fine but when I went to back the negative post screw out of the other negative post the screw stopped after about 1/2 a turn and the ENTIRE post started spinning, I had never even put a build on it... Since I'm a handy person with machining experience I didn't bother to contact Steve Kennedy to complain, I pulled both negative posts(quite easily) and then made four slight indents with a center punch around each of the negative post holes in the deck, this slightly reduced the diameter of the hole which allowed me to very firmly press the negative posts back in and they have not been a problem since.

I'm sure had I contacted Steve immediately he would have fixed this issue for me, I'm not the first one this has happened to nor will I be the last however because of that issue I just can't wrap my head around dropping $250 on the Ruby.

Did you get a fuel to match it?
