Alright so I just got my russian 91% in today and so far haven't been able to even try it out!!

so I built a coil (28g kanthal, 12 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit) anyway I put it on my MVP mod and it just reads NON, so I have a couple problems questions.

I feel like My center post (when tightened down so the positive post isn't moving around and loose) isn't making correct contact with my mod, I'm not 100% sure one that, but even after I get the coil on and loosened the center post so i was POSITIVE it was making contact with my mod I was still getting this NON reading when I tried to check ohms..

PLEASE HELP!!
i was SUPER excited to get this rba and try it out but so far I've gotten no where.

FWIW this is my first rba and also my first couple try's at building coils...

do you think it's a faulty RBA or just user error?

thanks, Eric

NON on my MVP 2 means one of two things: ohm's lower than MVP 2 can fire or an open.

To troubleshoot - u might start by measuring resistance of your russian independent of the MVP 2.

If that reads OK on meter - probably 1.8 ohm range I would guess

Then your russian 510 connection is not making contact with MVP 2's 510 connection

It's pretty hard to say without pictures of your build , but the center pin should be tight enough to keep the positive block in place , does your MVP have a spring loaded center pin , make sure it's not impeded by anything and returning to full height when depressed .

Like he said above - a picture is worth a thousand words - it is easy for one lead to disconnect from your coil - which would then act like an OPEN and read NON on MVP 2 - or worse stray lead touching where it should not - a short: also read NON.

Sounds like you got it figured out. I have had the same issue on the MVP and I just had to take a small flat head screwdriver and pull the center pin on the MVP up a bit. When I use 28awg and a 5/64 I do 7 wraps and get around 1.4 ohms which is awesome on the MVP at 11w
I will try that out because I just tried 9 wraps on a toothpick and I am reading 2.6...not what I was aiming for, I'm trying to get 1.4-1.5 ohms
This video may help you, my Russian 91% was pissing me off for the longest time until I realized that the center post could be adjusted, there's just a really strange way of going about it to do it right, ha ha.
Russian 91%, center pin connector - YouTube
Lol that's the video I found, that video saved me ALOT of frustration

You will only have flooding or leaking if you A) don't build it right or B) take to many primer puffs or C) Filling from the top incorrectly.
Couple of tips for your build;
1. Try boring your air hole out to 3/32. It mad a massive improvement for me and got rid of the hissing.
2. Try a twisted coil using 30g. I think if you get about 7 to 8 raps you'll be in the 1.4 to 1.5 ohms range while getting a better vape. More vapor namely and more flavor.
3. Don't fill from the top. You have to do it just right (specific method) in order not to flood it. Filling from the bottom hole is easier and never causes floods.

Yeah I definitely won't be filling from the top, just easier to fill from the bottom.

Not sure how to build a twisted coil, only problem I'm having now is if I take long slow lung inhales (5 seconds) or chain vape (which i tend to do quite a bit) with it set at 8 watts I'm getting a little bit of a burnt flavor if I take more than two or three drags back to back.
