It should be no prob for a 20/80... I am running a Max VG juice in my KFL+ right now and it's wicking fine...did you prime the wick prior to filling the atty?

If so, then maybe your cotton is too tight as it passes thru the coil? Not sure....I guess it could be any number of things.....

I am running a .5 coil in my R91% right now with 100% VG juice I mixed(cheesecake, awesome flavor),using a 1mm silica figure eight build and it is wicking fine. You need to close up the draw a little, then you can open the draw up as it builds up pressure inside the tank.I have the airhole screw all the way unscrewed.

I normally run a 50/50 blend with 3mm silica but I did not want to take any chances with the size of wick with an all VG mix.

Yes,the more room the wick has to get the juice flow the better.I just started with the smallest size silica because I did not want to worry about wicking problems and have to build this coil all over again.I am pretty sure with a 100% VG blend the R91% will wick up to about 1.5mm without any problems, maybe 2mm (I will have to try this later).

Coil diameter has a big impact on wicking when using a high VG ratio. You also want to keep the air channels pretty clear and not pack too much wick into them. When using a single strand of 2mm silica, I found that I couldn't get it to wick no matter how loose or tight I wrapped the coil. I had to make the coil big enough to take 2 strands of silica, 3 strands worked even better. Once you have the wick in the coil, the extra strands should be cut to the length of the coil so only one strand gets tucked down by the air channels.

Once I was confident I could build it without getting any dry/burnt hits, I've switched to cotton and found it a lot easier to get the build right and much tastier. Won't be going back to silica anytime soon. Silica is nice for your first few builds though, just to learn how the thing works.

This build worked really well for me when using silica and VG. It's a Kayfun in the vid, but it's the same for a R91.
