While attempting to take it apart the insulator that goes around the center post got mangled by the tip of it by my screwdriver. Question is should it be alright to vape with? I'm not sure how this insulator works or what it does.. Thanks in advance

Lol if by "mangled" you mean it's ripped up enough for the center post to touch the metallic base section if the atty, then no DEFINITELY not safe to vape with. It won't fire with a regulated mod, and you'll get a dead short with a mech.

The internal insulator helps to isolate the current going to the positive post, from the rest of the atty.

As long as there's a possibility of the metal center post touching the base, I would strongly recommend getting a replacement. Kidneypuncher sells a pack of 5 for a very affordable price.

On a genuine Kebo R91% V2 (or V1), with the V1 screw-adjustable 510 post (there... all nicely defined)... they use o-rings as a multi-function - seal - insulator - screw tensioning/positioning spacer. It sounds like you've got something else (this a clone?)... or Kebo has changed their parts since the last one I bought.

In any case, if what you have is closer to the Kayfun type post insulators that TheKiwi is referring to... those will work, as will the insulator used to hold the coil tails in place on a Kanger Evod/T3S type coil head.
Both may require a bit of razor blade trimming to set proper screw height/tension... but other than that, either work fine in KFL/R91 and most clones.
