I would like to know if anyone can point me in the right direction for a safe 18650 batttery to use with my Kamry KTS + Pro-tank 2 coiled in 1.2-1.8 Ohm.

Using panasonic cgr18650c (not ch) and I'm being told this battery is unsafe.

I have a few dollars credit on Amazon and was hoping to buy a couple good and safe batteries there .

I appreciate any help and or suggestions

you are only running 3-3.5 amps at 1.2 ohms. Panasonic batteries can safely handle up to 10 amps.they would be unsafe if used with coils below 0.4 ohms but I use them on my kayfun and EK V3 with 1.2 ohm coils and on recharge they show the same capacity as my Samsung 25Rs. 1.2cohms seems a little low for a protank 2.-I use 1.8 -2.0 ohms when I rebuild my coils and they work fine at that level.in fact im using a panasonic battery in my nemesis mod with an EK V3 tank (1.2 ohms) as im writing this

The information I can find on that battery is confusing. While it can handle driving a 1.2 ohm coil the chemistry of that battery might be the "ICR" type, lithium-cobalt, which less safe than the "IMR", lithium-manganese, battery type we prefer to recommend.

Since you don't need one of the high performance, high-amp batteries like the 25R, HD2, VTC4, etc., you could pick a lower current rated battery that has higher capacity and enjoy the longer times between recharges. I recommend one of the following...
    - Samsung 30Q, 15A 3000mAh
    - LG HG2, 20A 3000mAh
    - LG MJ1, 10A 3500mAh

Any of these will easily handle your needs and last a long time before needing to be replaced (assuming good charging habits, never overdischarging, blah, blah...).

Even though you have Amazon credit I strongly urge you to not buy from there. Just too many faked batteries being sold. These batteries will last you at least a couple of years. Buying from illumn.com, imrbatteries.com, or another reliable vendor, no matter what the price is, won't matter when it's stretched out for a long time. And the peace of mind you'll have knowing your cells will be genuine can be nice too. :)

Now... I've been tossing around the idea of buying a vv-vw mod so I can dial in flavor and cloud better.

Would the Samsung 25R stilll be a good choice there? or is there a better choice for going that route?

The 25R is a great all-around choice but a lot depends on how much current you will be drawing from the battery. For 15A or less, or more than 20A, there are slightly better choices.

If your new mod is in the 20W-40W range the 30Q or HG2 is great. For about 50W the 25R is my vote for your best choice (if it's a single 18650 mod). If at 75W or higher then I recommend the VTC4.

[edit] or if you just want a single cell for anything up to 75W, the 25R is my recommendation.

Depends on the current requirement of the mod. The 25R is an excellent battery, but it's pretty limited to a 20 amp load. If you need more, I will recommend the Sony VTC4, which can be loaded out near 30 amps. For extreme duty, including routine use in the 30 amp range, the LG H6B. The latter is only a 1500mAh battery, though, not to mention expensive and hard to find. That's the trade-off, current for capacity. The more you get of one, the less you get of the other. I personally feel the best combination of price, current and capacity is found in the Sony VTC4. I run them in everything... and live within their limits. It's a 2100 mAh, 20A battery that will tolerate discharge currents to 30 amps without excessive heating, albeit at the cost of some battery life over 20 amps. But the 25R is a fine battery indeed, 2500 mAh, and will probably provide better service life due to going longer between charges, if you're sure you won't exceed 20A, even in an auto-fire.

thanks for all of the recommendations!

I've sent out for a Kanger Subox over at Fasttech for just under $57 usd.
Reviewers seem to like it and it seems easy enough to operate. And although I'm not the most avid vaper I have never had a Kangertech product fail me. So I guess I'm a fan lol!

It comes with a .5 Ohm coil and a Rebuild able coil head. ranges from 7 to 50 watts. and runs a single 18650.

Are the 25R or the VTC4 my best options with this configuration?

Don't mean to keep the conversation on beating a dead horse. I just want to Vape safely!

Edit: I'll probably buy a pair of batteries. any suggestions for a cheap and reputable vendor? since I've been told to stay away from batteries from Amazon.

    Thanks.

At those power levels, the 25R will last longer between recharging than the VTC4. And it's less expensive too. :)

    +1 to @Mooch

The 25R would be a good choice for the Subox. He has also listed some excellent vendors. I will further add RTDVapor, who lists the 25R at $6.79 each, and throws in a free safe storage case when ordered in pairs. I have been ordering my batteries there, and I can vouch for their authenticity and RTDs rapid service.

The 18650CH has a 10 amp limit; the 18650C is a low-drain battery and I believe the CDR is 3 amps, which makes it unsuitable to the task. It's a laptop battery, not a vaping battery.
