Is it safe to soak a rda in listerine? Cannot get the horrid machine oil flavor out.

Eww! Eww! Eww! Then you have to get the horrid Listerine flavor out.

You want the alcohol - but at a higher percentage and without the minty freshness. If a hot water rinse isn't doing it try soaking in some cheap vodka.

Don't forget to take your post screws out too - that's another place machining oil likes to hide.

I don't think Listerine is the answer..

Bring a small pot of water to a gentle boil, add some dish detergent, then drop (disassembled) rba in for a few minutes- while stirring. Rinse well with water, then a quick rinse with Iso alcohol. This will get rid of any oil...

A word of caution- never soak in alcohol. Alcohol contains a small percentage of water. Quite often stainless steel will rust if soaked for a long time.

I try to stick with cleaners that I trust around food, (I know, plenty of chemicals in the nic) so for me I use straight vodka or everclear. I generally don't need or want to soak my stuff, I usually put it in for a minute or 2 then start scrubbing with a small tooth brush. Haven't had any issues with oil taste after cleaning yet.
