Yes, I think you'd get better machining if you asked the students at your local community college to make you one. And I'm saying that as an instructor at a community college.
Wicking is the issue. I can vape my .8 ohm kayfun over 20-25 watts and not get burnt hits vaping 50/50's
I have a small army of KFL clones from various manufacturers and haven't modified the liquid channels in any of them yet, so some refinement to technique is probably what's needed.
For me, the "bunny ear" method using cotton has never failed.
EDIT: I should have also recommended using a coil ID of 2mm or greater.
