I have purchased several different e-cigarette devices over the years, but never an actual vaporizer like I just received - The Vamo. I really like it, however I am noticing one problem. As with the old electronic cig devices I got about 8 years ago the flavor still has that same old burnt fake tobacco taste. I am using this to quit smoking, it's working, primarily because of all the vapor I can get out of the thing. Its almost like real smoke, whereas the other units I had wouldn't put out much more than a small puff.

I have LiQua traditional tobacco 12mg, cuban cigar 24mg, and turkish tobacco in 24mg. Honestly the turkish seems to be the best. I read all about how to clean out my ce4 clearomizer thinking that the burnt taste was from it, I've done it and it seemed to help. Only one of the clearomizer's work, the second one that came in stopped working after a few puffs and now only works when it wants to, shows no resistance change at all when screwed in. Im guessing that one is a dud. I'm soaking anyway, just to make sure before it becomes a parts bin member.

Right now i need the tobacco flavored or something like it with nicotine. What do you guys recommend? I also need to order some more of these clearomizers or some other kind of atomizer top.

Thanks in advance

Have you set the Vamo up properly?
Watts not volts
NO2 for RMS output - Most stable

Center Pin on the second ce4 needs to be pulled down a touch. Not making contact.

Chuck the ce4 after picking up some ce5(can be fully disassembled) or better yet, Kanger Evod bottom coil Clearomizers

Don't suggest going over 6.8-7 watts with the ce4's maybe a bit lower.

You should never have Burnt taste unless
a) Wick is DRY - poor wicking
b) Wick is caked up with thickened e-liquid. LiQua is light on flavoring so I suspect poor wicking

Ce4's have an issue of the silicone cup pinching the wicks thus cutting liquid flow. this can be corrected by cutting 2 small notches at the wicks. A pain on ce4's to pull/install the cup.

Hi, I'm a newbie (1 month vaping), I did purchase a cigalike device years ago and it was terrible, everything tasted awful. I don't have a vamo, I'm using an EGO Twist, with a viva nova or Kanger T2 , when I first started I had the burnt taste with the tobacco flavor and discovered if I turned my voltage down, it was better, but I did find that I was happier with something with a little flavor in it, I was trying to duplicate my Players Cigarettes (Canadian) and that just wasn't going to happen. I would try a few more flavors, or a few different juices, before you get too discouraged, I also got quite a few different tanks and clearos in my kit and I just didn't like some of them. Hope you find your sweet spot.

many of my friends, including myself, have stopped w/the cigs because we all swiched to vaping. i also have a vamo. in my experience, you dont really need a tobacco flavor-nic will do just fine. i used to smoke a pack every 1.5-3 days n vaping 6-12mg did the job for me. i prefer 0 nic now but if i do that, i run thru my juices way too fast. 6 hits the spot

Burnt taste - new CE4 - whether it was tobacco or non-tobacco flavor and no matter the nicotine mgs - I always had that problem with the CE4's for some reason at least up to the point where the coil was glucked enough to clean the thing and give it a dry burn after letting it dry well.. the dry burn would get the gunk off and dry any water left in the wicks -- then i would let it soak a while in e-juice and then it would be fine. There for a while I was even washing them out when they were brand new. I came to the conclusion that the burnt taste I was getting that no one seemed to experience and i got it every time, no matter where I got them from, was caused by something on the wick material from its original process.

Anyway, jump ahead to the CE5's which did not have this problem most times but I would still have it happen now and and only with a whole new one I bought. If it tasted burnt I would just take the CE5 apart and rinse off the wicks, dry burn and am fine. Then I noticed that I did not have the problem with new wicks when I replaced the heads. Maybe the wicks on the replacements are from a different process for making the wicks or from a different maker or different lot. Perhaps the steps they take making replacement heads call for washing wick material before its used.. I have no clue.

Bottom line is that it really seems related in this case, or in mine, to a new never used wick/coil combo. Yes I also would get a burnt taste with a gunky coil but obviously we know where that was coming from and how to solve that and its expected after awhile. Brand new burn taste always amazed me as you expect 'new' to be perfect long as you give the e-juice a bit if time to wick up.

I guess, from the prospect of hygiene, there is nothing wrong with washing before first use as they suggest with anything you buy that goes near or in your body so i don't feel like I made my new CE5 age by doing so. There for a bit I found myself just putting a new head in from the start since those wicks never bugged me and the CE5's were cheap enough that a new head in a new CE5 was not a cost deterrent until a couple of times taking them apart to replace it in a new one I saw a bunch of dust and other particles inside that I would not have noticed except for the closer inspection with changing the heads. That's when I went back to just a first time washing before use.

Thanks for all the replies, I just ordered a KangerTech Protank - Pyrex Glass 2.5ml Bottom Feed Tank and I have concluded that the ce4's are garbage. I will keep the working one as a backup, hopefully this kanger will last and it appears i can replace parts if need be. :rickroll::rickroll::rickroll:

Good choice for upgrade! However never assume 1 anything is all you need.
Store away the ce4's for emergencies and grab an Ego or knock-off as as spare battery back up.

A drop or misplacement or just plain old failure could have you in a panic at a moments notice.

I have been blowing through a lot of the$ on this new "cheaper" smoking alternative. That is not a complaint though. Truthfully, I started vaping for 3 reasons. 1. My Dr recommended it. I have a disorder called Steven-Johnson's syndrome. For whatever reason, my skins started to rot in places. The reason I was encouraged to vape "a habit I used before to quit and like a lot" is that while nicotine does cause capillaries to constrict, it isn't stealing as much O2 from your blood, also I have a seizure disorder and suddenly stoppimg smoking has caused med issuea before. 2. I am also mid divorce and vaping can be a hobby as well as a habit. 3. I like new toys.

Now, I have tried a lot of clearomizers, and the CE4 is one I enjoy, but it's also like ego batteries, everyone makes them and calls them the same thing. I believe Vision made the first, but could be wrong. I have found that all atomizers (using the wrong terminology, but it's easier to stick to one word over clearos, cartos, etc) produce a different taste. Ones with metal mouthpieces seem to work best with warmer vapor and darker flavors, to me. Where as I prefer my mint/menthol flavors to come out cool and hate the effect metal has on the vape. I have been told that's all in my head, maybe, but most my friends agree the taste changes when you swap a metal mouthpiece with a plastic one.

The 1 thing I have learned above all, is that I will probably never find an eliquid that actually tastes like smoking. Closest I got was with king disposables. I have found that RY4 flavors that aren't too sweet are the closest I can get without the ejuice intentionally being given a burnt flavor that is supposed to taste smoky.

The pro tank is good, but I found it airy, had to use the beauty ring that comes with to control the draw, or I just got a very weak vape. If yours didn't come with one, or it doesn't fit on your battery/mod with ring and tank, you can find other cheap pieces at smoktek that work well to add resistance to your inhale. I like kanger a lot, but I use the EVOD over my pro tank often. Of all the atomizing options, I find the EVOD to be the best with any battery and any juice. I gave up a lavatube mod for the SVD just because the EVOD fit without an adapter, and I have had 3 adapters snap off at the 510 stem so my batteries are blocked and the EVOD now has a flat metal bottom I can't get to come off.

Good advice from crxess on all points but especially using the Vamo in it's best configuration.

Always use the Vamo in RMS (N02) mode and adjust your power in watts.

I would also have several dripping atomizers on hand for two reasons. One, to test new eliquids and two, if your clearo or carto is tasing burnt, you can put the atty on and if it tastes fine, then you know your clearo or carto is the problem.
