I got a sample of Candy Apple and fell instantly in love. I ended up ordering a 60ML bottle of Candy Apple. The thing is, the bottle isn't as flavorful as the sample. Don't get me wrong, it is still good. Just not as good.

This probably has to do with the age of the samples. I think that this is because they are kind of steeped. Usually, my guesses are a bit off so, this is probably not the reason. But, I could be right. I just don't know enough about this stuff yet.

I wonder if David makes up a large batch to create the samples. He could then fill a bunch of sample bottles. He probably has the batch getting lots of air while he is filling the sample bottles. After, the samples could be stored and could sit for weeks before they are shipped out. In a way, this would be almost like steeping them.

So, I am guessing that I am going to need to steep the Candy Apple in order for it to taste as good as the sample. I am going to steep it anyway but, this would give me a little more motivation to not sneak some of the steeping juice.

Am I way off again? Am I at least on the right track?

You are correct! Remember to shake the juice well, take the lid off for 24-48 hours. This will speed the process along. I had the same experience with the Candy Apple. You probably noticed that the fresh bottle was clear but the sample was pink? Well when the bottle is pink (the darker the better) it will taste just like the sample :)

Samples are made in advance and do have some time to steep.

Leave the top on but if you happen to be walking past it give it a good shake. You will see how much the color changes just after having the top off for 24-48 hours. I did this with some Hopscotch for 48 hours. I already had some Hopsvcotch that was about 1 month old. 48 hours with the top off and the color was darn close to the 1 month old bottle.

That sounds pretty good. Was the flavor the same as the 1 month old hopscotch?

I have my Cappuccino Smooth and Candy Apple flavors in the closet with the caps off right now. I have them on a high shelf on top of the box that my iPad came in. I will give them a good shake in the morning, if I'm not running late. Let's see how close the Candy Apple gets to the sample after a couple of days. The sample had just the right amount of flavor. The 60Ml bottle was close but just not as good.

It will get to the taste of the sample and beyond. I just opened a bottle of Strawberry Twist dated 08/31/10. This stuff is outrageously awesome! I can't wait for FSUSA to release the Gold Label stuff. I know that it will be incredible.

The flavor did not have the depth of the 1 month old Hopscotch but still very good.

Same thing here I got a bottle of Wyatt Earp as a free sample in my first order from them and fell in love. I ordered a 60ml bottle based on that and couldn't wait to get in from the mailbox to try it. Instant depression, I was like..."what am I going to do with this other 59.9ml". Gave it some time and it started coming around to the sample I love and everything was great again.

I had the same exact thing happen with caramel apple from a vendor. Sample great.... 30ml not so much.
Funny thing is the big bottle seemed like all apple and very little caramel. I just set it aside ... didn't open it or shake it.
About a month later when a friend was over he wanted to try it. I told him its not that great. After him raving about it for 15 min I had to try it again. WOW it came around nicely.

Makes me wonder if I let some flavors sit around too long. I have a pretty big inventory :)

Just a note, I also have found that when I get a sample and decide to order to be sure and order the ratio the sample was. (unless you can't tolerate one of the base liquids) IE if the sample was 50/50 and I order 80/20 the taste could be considerably different, as VG has sugar in it, I don't believe PG has any sweetner in it per se as a base liquid. I believe that most suppliers who hand mix do have recommendations for some flavors as to what ratio, because they feel that's what make the flavor pop the most, taste wise......HTH

Good point Vchick. The VG can make a big difference in flavor. That is why the specailties are only offered in a 50/50 mix. Any variation would change the flavor.

It is a good point. I get all my juices in 50/50 though. I am having some problems with my lungs and vaping so, I am going to be getting a flavor in 100% PG and and the same flavor in 100% VG. I may be reacting to one of the bases. I am going to try vaping each to see if it is the case. I will let you know how much this affects the flavor.

Your experience may differ from mine, but I've found that flavors in 100% VG are a bit "flat"...for lack of a better word. It's like the VG mutes the flavor just a bit. That said, I'm also not crazy about 100% PG, as the flavor comes through nice and sharp but it's so "thin" on the inhale that it just doesn't do it for me. I've also noticed that some flavors do better than others as far as PG/VG ratio goes.

Also, remember that your nicotine content can alter the flavor and throat hit a bit.

You may be reacting to the PG a bit, from what I understand it's not an uncommon reaction. Hope you figure it out and feel better!

Thanks. I am hoping that it is just my lungs adjusting and that it will pass anyway. I wrote about it here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/136487-vaping-phlegm.html

Maybe David is just out to get me... **ACK**

I just went into the closet to pop on the caps for a few minutes and shake the bottles like they wronged me. I can already see a difference in the color. I am going to keep the cap off for another day. After that, I am going to put the cap back on while they age. I will still go in there occasionally to give them a good shake.

LordD you will jmp right outta your socks once they finish ageing. I did the same, cap off for 24hrs, cap on and shake for 30 sec and lids on for another 24hrs, then let air in for another 24hrs - there's a video somewhere on here. My Hypnotist (LOL) mist changed so much in colour it now looks roughly the same as the butterscotch colour. Hey Salemgold, just wondering is there a post about the Gold Label stuff, this is the second time i've heard about it, but cant find any reference to it.
