My local is a Sam Smiths, and I've been happily vaping there. Even converted a couple of people.

This week the landlord and lady have been on a course organised by the brewery, and returned at 10pm last night with the news that vaping is not allowed "for H & S reasons".

Needless to say, I put down my glass, put on my coat and walked the 30 yards to the next pub (a freehouse, and very vape friendly).

So now, and entire chain has just lost my custom.

With all the pubs that are closing they are not doing themselves any favours.

It would be interesting to know what health and safety reasons they are referring to.

I honestly don't know. The landlord has offered to show me the instruction as it has been presented to them, though I can't for the life of me imagine that I will find a valid reason in there. Sam Smiths pubs are not known for being the most entertaining pubs. No music, no TV, no entertainment, and still 11pm bar closure. Just cheap beer, so not a huge loss to me, but driving custom away won't, as you say, do them any favours.

Liquidator is right, with so many pubs closing, they certainly aren't doing themselves any favours by banning e-cigs.

Sam Smiths have always taken this stance, JD Wetherspoons have a policy against ecigs too and Marstons do not allow them in their managed pubs either - each to there own I suppose
