I posted this in another thread but kinda think it deserves a thread of its own in light of its positiveness.
Funny story.
So they banned vaping on the campus where I work starting October 1, last Tuesday. All the smokers now have to walk a bit further (taking more time yadda yadda), and the closest place to get to that is off campus is the sidewalk that takes you to a building right next door.
That sidewalk spills the smokers and vapers out onto a patio that belongs to a little restaurant on the ground floor of this building and the patio was, until Thursday, empty. But now it's not because guess what the restaurant owner did?
He put out tables and chairs and some vertical ashtrays and now serves free coffee to all the smokers/vapers from our building. Said all he asks is that we keep it clean and that when we think of going out for lunch, we think of his restaurant.
Cool, eh? I know I'll be eating there more often and so will all the other 30+ people.
Don't know(yet) whether he's a smoker himself and can relate or is just a shrewd businessman or whether or not he will keep it up, but hey...a little bit of sanctuary in the face of diaspora.
