Sanding off the finish under the spring

Has anyone ever done a before and after test to see if sanding makes a noticeable difference? Should be an easy test with a multimeter. I've been meaning to get one but haven't yet.
Does the increased metal to metal contact area help? You've already got the screw holding the spring going through the bare aluminum. Just curious.

As I recall, yes, there is a measurable difference, but I believe the consensus was that how MUCH difference was dependant on the finish, i.e., TRA showed the least improvement, the thicker finishes showed more of an improvement. I suppose the logic is that the more surface area in contact with the bottom of the spring, the less resistance.

I did my black anodized and my silver hammer tone. I didn't do the tra. I didn't measure the difference; but I figured it couldn't hurt. It only took a couple swipes with a little drum sander on the Dremel.

I also did this to my Silver Hammertone. Although I didn't meter before and after, there was a noticeable difference in performance. I haven't bothered with my TRA because there's no point.
