The Sanyo battery you linked to is a NCR class protected battery (Li Ion). Variable voltage
devices like the Vamo work best with a high drain IMR (unprotected, but use a safer chemistry than the Li Ion
batteries). A better choice would be the
18650 1500mah 3.7v IMR LiMN Battery or
18650 Hybrid 2250mah 3.7v IMR Battery
I've never seen that
blue AW 18650 battery advertised before. They typically are a fire engine red. Looks like a knock-off to me.

You don't need a protected battery in a Vamo or other variable voltage device. The boost circuit V-V processors use have their own built-in electrical safety that is far more dependable than the little circuit boards built into protected
batteries.
IMR high drain batteries are better suited for boost circuits because they allow higher amp draws that those circuits require, without over-heating. In addition, the protection circuit in NCR batteries may prevent them from providing the higher amp draws required in the Vamo.
The higher mAh ratings of protected batteries (when compared to lower mAh ratings of IMR batteries) in general are typically an exageration and their real life results are not as dependable as their claims.
