I'm new to this and still working things out.

I've just done a refill or two and maybe I don't quite have the hang of it, but so far I haven't found refilled carts to provide near the same quality or sensation as a new one.

(I watched Steve's video and followed a post by Jen to refill; taking off the mouthpiece and o-ring, rinsing, dripping juice down the side until it looks saturated, etc.)

Also, I'm wondering how much savings there is really from refilling. I was surprised how much of a 5 ml bottle was used just refilling one cart.

So, each cart is $2.50. A 5 mil bottle is $3.50. How many refills from a 5 mil?

Has anyone calculated the savings from refilling? Is it worth the trade off in quality or am I still just doing it wrong?

If I can't get the same throat hit from refilling as I do from a new cart, I doubt that I'd manage to stay off analogs.

All comments appreciated.

As I said, I'm still really new to this. I'm sure I'll be bugging you all with more questions in the future.:?:

Hey there, I'm a total noob and still waiting for my first e-cig...

But I have a syringe to measure liquids and I measured how many drops I can get per ml... 18-20 drops per ml

So for 5ml you should get close to 6 refill of 16 drops/cart. Taken that you will loose a couple drops per bottles you should get at least 5 refills so 0.70$ per refill... Even if they last a little less than a new cartomizer it's still 2.8$ less

My 0.2$

Depends on the size of the drops. I can fill a blank cartridge and it will generally take around 30 drops. I don't think I have used much more than 1ml of liquid when filling a blank. This is using Steve's 5 and 20 ml bottles.

I try to never get to the point of refilling. I prefer to top off the carto before it gets anywhere near being dry. They seem to last a long time doing this. I end up putting in 9-12 drops. I think the juice has a lot to do with it too. I have this one carto I have refilled many times with grape and it tastes just as good as it did when I first filled it. It was a blank to begin with but it has been very good to me.

If you do a cost analysis vaping should not cost any more than smoking even if you are always using new carto's. I realize it depends on the cost of cigs in your area. Here in SC they are cheap and so I still have not broken even but I am well on my way. So far I have spent a total of $270.00 and I have pleanty of supplies but I will be placing another small order soon from V4L.

The whole point of vaping for me is health. You can not put a price on your health and I would not like to see anyone go back to analogs.

The current cartomizers hold .8ml, and a refill is usually a little less than that so as to not risk overfilling.

I don't really see much point in getting 5ml bottles of juice unless you're just curious about the flavor. The savings really start kicking in with larger quantities. 250ml quantities can be had for about 25 cents/ml or less from various sources (although V4L, unfortunately, doesn't yet offer such).

I noticed that the cappucino juice put into the carts on a refill work really well, too. On my 2nd refill with the Capp. I am still getting the same quality vapor and flavor I got from the original carto, but I don't let them go all the way dry either, I top off before they are finished.

I wanted something healthier and to save some money as well, so far the carts are lasting a lot longer than I ever thought they would. When using my atty/drip/catridge (not cartomizer) style mod, I can go through about 2 or 3 mls of liquid a day, but there is a lot of waste when dripping and refilling on that.

I guess I smoked a lot of cigs but wasted a lot of them burning up and I never was a deep inhaler, so far a pv has been a good savings for me, I have a lot of stock and batts and juice and cartos and have spend about what I would have spent in about 3 months of buying cigs. If I didn't buy anymore cartos or juice, I could hold out for a long time with what I've got, probably about 6 or 7 months with refilling cartos, I think.
