A coworker approached me two days ago on his way out of the building to say he was leaving to return home to another state. We said our goodbyes then I realized I'd forgotten to thank him for getting me started vaping. He was back in the building yesterday to pick up something he'd forgotton so I got my chance after all. If there is somebody you need to thank for getting you started, tell them, don't put it off.

Good point. I have NO idea who got me started vaping. Just a random stranger i met at a bus stop waiting for a bus, and we talked about nuc levels, and flavors till the bus came.

I started vaping for my own health as an alternative to tobacco. The initial products were from the local smoke shop. They were more educated than myself but being that it was all so new, frankly it was still an experimental trial and for me did not last long. I did ok for a bit but because this was just when the industry was new to my area and products were limited, I became frustrated and started back to cigarettes in a short time. I began again recently though somewhat differently. I started with the disposables before investing in the more expensive electronics. I found this worked well for me and in just a month's time I have quit tobacco altogether. I do not taste or smell like a cigarette anymore. I enjoy the vast selection of flavors-especially fruity. I have also been able to cut down on my nicotine intake while still satisfying the physical and psychological needs and urges ;) AND, even my docotors are happier!!!

I also wanted to add that I do find the disposables to be an easy alternative when out in public as I have yet to figure out how to use my electronics with the juice from not leaking/spilling etc. Looking for a forum on that next :)

Someone on my motorcycle forum had a cigalike that he hated. I then knew there was an alternative besides BP products. Thank you annoying person on defunct mc site. :) Actually, I thank Almighty God for the opportunity and guidance. And, Rose and a few others here that choose to spend their time in the newcomers forum regularly and unselfishly.

My sweetheart purchased the first Cig-A-Like for myself and 2 other people. She quit 2 to 3 years ahead of me and the other 2 went back to smoking. While I progressed to vaping with MOD's and Tanks RTA/RBA/RDTA she is still using the Cig-A-Likes but not smoking!

To be perfectly honest I can't for the life of me remember how I actually found out about e-cigs. I must have read something online and finally got curious about them. I was at my local smoke store one day almost 5 years ago and decided to buy the only thing they had at the time. It was a tiny cig-a-like kit. This store didn't even have the disposables at that time. I picked up the kit and my normal 2 cartons of smokes. I never smoked the smokes :D I do have to thank all the folks right here for all the great information that has helped me continue on this life saving journey.

The local smoke shop was an excellent source of information and I must commend him for the patience he had when helping me learn about vaping. Due to how much he helped me I now devote free time in the store helping his customers since the FDA prohibits this now.

I echo what some of the others have said.
I saw a Blu commercial, and started there, then found Johnson Creek online, then found ECF.
It was the ECF family, for which I am so grateful, that has helped keep me find better and better, quality vapes, thus keeping me on the right track.
All the friendships I've formed, well that has just been the icing on the cake. :)

After all the flavors and the smooth pleasurable vape from my MOD's using the Logic just isn't any good for me any longer. I tried it recently and gave all my batteries, cartridges and USB adapters away because it just wasn't very good at all. I do have 2 Mark Ten kits here unopened but doubtful they will get used and I might PIF them to someone contemplating quitting smoking.

I've never met the person who helped me get started. My wife nudged me towards vaping in the hopes that it would help me quit. She learned about it at work where there were a couple folks that had made the switch so she had seen first hand as a non smoker that it was possible. I had too many questions and nowhere that I knew of to get answers at the time, and I was mistrustful of any "magical cure" for getting off the smokes.

One of the guys who had switched asked her if she could give him my e-mail, I said sure, I'll read whatever info he sends me. The e-mail that I received was a comprehensive primer detailing the available classes of products that were available at that time and a breakdown of relative cost, pluses and minuses, and where to find them. I read the information several times over then filed the e-mail away...

It was many weeks, maybe a month or two later that I decided to visit the shop he recommended, it was totally on a lark that I drove there. I made the switch that day.

I wish I could say thanks to the people that got me started on vaping. One was a random guy at college. Never talked to him, just saw what he was doing and came home to look it up. The other person are the big reviewers on YouTube who I don't watch anymore.

I remember seeing ads and thought I would try it. I had an online friend that her hubby had a heart attack and his Dr said he had to quit smoking and try ecigs. She also used ecigs for weight control. I seriously started the hunt and that was it, I was on the way to smoke free :)

Great thread @sofarsogood! I got started from a friend. I researched before I bought anything and came to ecf frome google searches, under the "guest" status.

Anywho, the fella that introduced me to vaping brought me around to 4-5 shops. He had an IPV mini iirc. I make it a point to tell him on my anniversaries that me and my daughter Meadow thank him.

Good stuff. Thanks for the thread.

I have to thank my children for getting me to switch. They had been hounding me for years to quit smoking as they didn't like the smell and they worried for my health. One day they approached me and they kept telling me that I need to look into these e-cig things. I finally caved after a bunch of hounding and said I would give it a try for them. Three years later I'm still smoke free!

And to ECF as well! Because without you guys, I probably wouldn't have been successful in quitting because I found the cig-a-likes woefully inadequate for what I needed to quit back then.
