I started vaping with the kr-808's using cartomizers. Eventually I got hooked on a passthrough. These cartomizers can really heat up at times. After moving on to atty's I noticed that can heat up quite a bit as well.

When using a penstyle there is so little mass, and the metal walls are so very thin. The cartos would heat up pretty quick and retain that heat for some time. I don't know how many of you have dissected a penstyle, but the battery walls are as thin as the walls on an atty. A cartomizer in comparison has more metal mass then the battery walls themselves. The heat will draw to the higher mass/lower resistance.

Surprisingly this changed when I got my SB, even at 6v.
I tend to drip a 510, but I use cartos occasionally. If the carto or atty are not dry they tend to run cooler on the SB then on a penstyle. After a session with the SB I felt the top. It was noticeably warmer then the atty/carto. I'm guessing the large metal mass of the SB body is acting like a heatsink.

Just another neat thing I noticed with the SB.

Anyone else notice this?

If not, try it yourself. Break out an old penstyle or passthrough and try the same carto/atty on the SB and your other device, with the same juice level, and same hit duration.

thats the coffin nail for small mods :D

I can see that happening. I think the SB is one of the largest tube mods, but that doesn't make it "big" by any means. I bought the SB because it was made out of thick metal, and was durable. The heat sink effect was only a plus I never thought of! I don't think any thin, sleek mod you have the same effect!

The SB reminds me of a harley or something that was machined back when they used to make stuff last!

Sorry man! FIXED! Yeah, paintball is about as addictive as nicotine.. LOL

So much easier to carry a PV then a pack of smokes w/ lighter on the field. With PVs I don't burn my mask either!

I used a barrel condom as a lanyard for my SB. It works good, but the SB is heavy!

Oh and barrel swabs work great on cleaning out the inside tube of all mods!
