Scale?

I'd like to try mixing by weight and a friend gave me a scale but it only reads to 0.1 not 0.01 ... would that still work ok or do I really need a 0.01 scale? It has all the other features that you guys talk about like the zero,adjustable auto shut off and it counts, just not the 0.01 Thanks!

Not really. Needs to have the finer measurement. Big difference between .1 and .19 on test batches. You can get a cheap scale on eBay for $20 shipped to see if measure by weight is for you. I find it very simple but others love their syringes.

Yeah, as sketchness stated, then it's a little to unprecise for very small batches, but if making bigger batches like e.g. 30ml+, then I believe it would be perfectly fine for that, allthough I would recommend also getting another with better precision also, which can be gotten very cheaply e.g. from one of the "china" stores...

And sketchness, lol Yeah, people are indeed very fond of there syringes...

Yeah the extra .09 will make your life much better and you'll keep your recipes spot on. Mind you, 0.01g will you get less loss right, so your giving yoursefl a favour, and you keep your recipes accurate and consistent!

essentially you could get away with 0.1g scale but only if you mixed at 30ml, so it's not really practical. Just pop over to amazon, and grab an American Weigh. They're excellent

Kinda depends on your batch size. 1% or less of 30ml might be easier to figure with more digits. 2 at minimum 3 would be better. And if you mixing at gallon levels the decimal may not matter at all.

I bought a cheap 300g X .01 scale off of ebay and it's pretty darn accurate. Look for" Digital Pocket Scale" Don't worry about getting weights with one, use the US Treasury web site to get coin weights, and use those for checking your new scale with.

I agree.
After ordering one that didn't work, I did a search here & found this one highly recommended. Now I highly recommend it.
