Hey guys,
I vaped for over a year very heavily and did not have a problem with phlegm outside of the normal having to clear my throat of it every once in a while, but then I quit for a few months. Now I’m back and I can’t stop producing phlegm. I’m not sure if this is a vg/pg thing or if the ejuice I got is cheap (transistor with 45/65 vg/pg) or if I’m just having a weird reaction to an ingredient in the juice, but something is off. Also I vape using the ohm boy with a cloud beast king tank. I appreciate any advice!

It s pretty normal to cough up stuff for a bit after quitting smoking. It is your body trying to heal from the damage caused by all the cigarettes. It will pass with time, and you should feel much better after it does.

Not trying to be rude here, just curious, but is there a reason you chose a squonk mod to run a sub ohm tank that doesn't squonk? I assume it was an astetic thing maybe?

Ahh sorry to clarify I quit smoking over a year ago. I quit vaping a couple months ago, but just picked it back up. And don’t worry that is an excellent question. I know it sounds weird, but I just bought the ohm boy and intend on getting a rabbit for rebuildable coils next paycheck!

Gottcha. I just saw your post about getting into rebuilding and figured that is what your plan was.

I have went through a couple of stages of coughing up stuff, and I quit just over 10 months ago. You may be having a reaction to your juice, but it still kind of sounds like your lungs are healing to me. It takes quite a while to get them back to normal, and starting vaping again may have aggravated them and knocked some of the build up loose again.

Yeah that’s probably a good point. Thanks!

Everyone is different and our bodies change with time. I was a long time smoker and have been vaping for 3 years and I am much more phlegmy as a vapor than I ever was as a smoker. But my health is better. I breathe better and I am never winded and I work out a lot. My advise is, if you are not smoking than don't fret too much about it. Try different juices. Experiment with a different device maybe? Whatever you do, don't go back to smoking.

Man bodies are mysterious things, I also have no real CLUE about that stuff, but I will say this, I quit for 6 weeks on an (I am ALMOST CERTAIN) high PG setup, with no problems, went back to dual use, and then back to smoking and I became COMPLETELY PG sensitive and still can't handle it.

I think part of it MAY have been caused by the fact that I was pretty ill this go round, I mean like 18 months pneumonia type sick at 3 ppd. I certainly WAS NOT the smoker I was that quit the first time around.

I'd say it's possible it's just your body's reaction to a large transition. I would ALSO say, maybe you are more gunky because your body doesn't like this particular RATIO, or this particular flavor/manufacturer, you certainly have many things you can experiment with and that's good.

I would also say, it may be the sign of your lungs have gotten HEALTHY and since you didn't smoke at all at first while quitting, then started chain smoking THEN returned to vaping, you are just getting more gunk, at first.

If your new setup is delivering FAR more vapor than your prior vapes, and if your prior vapes had far less VG in them, I might wonder if a too high VG LEVEL might be the culprit, as often nowadays liquids come in very different formulations and whatnot. I mean, I think I've read many times that a high VG level can cause more phlegm , period, and that it's not exactly unsafe per se it's just a higher likelihood of some (sort of benign) congestion. I am far less congested now that I have been able to drastically lower my VG only vapes due to starting to use PEG400 which I CAN vape and I just generally have less phlegm. I mean-- give it some time and try some different things but my guess is you'll be able to fix this issue somehow.

I'd also say, I guess, that if you remember what your old setups were and what your old juices were, that might be helpful in making a comparison of sorts.

While vaping has you in good loogie shape, try beating the record until the phlegm dries up. I did 175' 7" once but I was up in a tree and the wind was heavy so by International Loogie Rules I was disqualified but it didn't diminish my pride at all.
