So I have to give credit to Baditude. His posts on IBTanked and info on Carto tank setups got me motivated in giving them another go. Glad I did!

My first setup was a UDCT tank. It worked ok but I thought it had a rather weak draw, so it kinda got put to the side. Today I got in a tank from IBTanked along with some Boge Prepunched Cartos... WOW! What a difference. Aside from losing about 2 mils of juice figuring things out (I got it now so should not be a future issue) getting it going was rather simple and the vape is great.

While the tank itself is awesome, I think what is making the biggest difference is the Carto. The UDCT uses a Dual Coil and has a single tiny hole in it. The Boge is single coil and the hole is noticeably bigger.

I did run into one major snag though.... My wife tried it and... well now it is sitting on her Twist. Her Stardusts got tossed in a drawer :p So I just placed a new order for me.

She also commented how nice the Provari is, but I gotta draw the line somewhere!

How selfish of you to deny your wife her own Provari! :glare:

JK, but just imagine how nice she will be to you if you got her one. Valentine's Day is almost here.

Glad to hear I contributed to your trying out a cartotank and it is working out great for you. Enjoy your next tank(s). ;)

Offered to buy her one, she wants to wait a bit. Still digs her twists. Think I will pick her up some nice girly tanks. IB has the Alice, but I think their painted tanks are not up for sale for now? They come up randomly on the scroll but not listed under products.

Also on the hunt for a couple of the Valley View tanks once they are back in stock.

OCD commented recently that the 3 person, family-run operation had become overwhelmed with orders for their tanks, so they got behind in stock of the artsy tanks which they paint themselves. Add to the fact that two of the three went out of town for a few days leaving just OCD to tend to affairs, and they got even more behind, so OCD took some items off the website until things get back to normal.

The family made the decision to hire additional staff to help keep up with the increasing popularity and demand. So things should be back to normal quite soon.

Yup, and honestly I am just fine with waiting on those. Crazy quality for the price and the clear tanks work just fine. Really like how they put together the complete tank kits, made things rather simple!

Be interested in seeing how long the Cartos end up lasting in the tank. Been using Novas and Stardusts and the heads get pretty funky after a week. Hoping the Carto goes a little longer.

What juices you use greatly determines how long a typical cartomizer will last more than anything. The darker, sweeter, and VG heavy juices will begin to clog the polyfiller sooner than a clear. not so sweet. or a 50/50 PG/VG juice.

If you order from a juice vendor who does custom mixes to order, you can request in the comments section to have them use a tank-friendly thinner mix if what you currently use seems too thick. Or alternatively, you can add up to 10% of water to your juices with no loss of flavor on your own.

We mostly run with 70/30 or 60/40. From what I have read from you and others there can be can be many factors in how long the carto will last. Figure if we can get 1-2 weeks that will be good. Good to know though on how the darker and sweeter juices effect the carto. Thanks for that tip!

Wife tells me her setup started tasting odd and could not taste the juice flavor.... gonna play around with it tonight, assuming juice is not getting in the cart or she is chain vaping and the cart can't keep up.

Could just be "Vapor's Tongue". Happens to most vapors. Try a fresh carto, and if it doesn't help, that's probably what it is. It will resolve itself after a day or two. Try strong flavors like cinnamon, mints, or menthol if you have any.

So checked out the tank and everything looked fine. Carto looked good, tasted good to me. She tried again and still thought it tasted funny... Almost like if you lit the .... of a cig. Either my taste buds are still fried or she is just one of those people sensitive to cartos.

Anyways she is back and happy with the Stardusts and Novas, I have the tank back and another on the way. Win win! Once I have a few I want to tinker around a bit with punching, single and two hole, etc.

Sounds like an improperly primed carto or a dry carto that got burned

That is what I thought, but when I checked it out everything looked and tasted fine. Even took a Q tip lightly to the top of the Carto and could see it absorbed juice. Used the tank all last night and had no issues. At least it did not taste burnt to me. I have burned one or two before and definitely remember the foul taste.

So few things I learned last night..

1) When using a new Carto, it is probably wise to see if it fits correctly BEFORE filling the tank. In my case I had a Boge Cart that was punched and it did not want to fit through at the punch point on my DCT and UDCT tank.

2) In regards to point 1, don't continue to try forcing it through. Especially if you are sitting at your desk and hovering above your keyboard.....

3) These IBTanked tanks can be a tight fit! I had a hell of a time refilling as the cart would not budge. Ended up slowly popping the top cap off, then wiggling the carto through the bottom cap.

All in all though still digging this over the Nova setups. Just has taken a little bit of learning and a couple "I Love Lucy" moments :p
