Ive been vaping for almost a year, but had a large set back last July and went back to my old habit of almost a pack a day. Since I've put down the cigarettes, I don't feel quite the same as I did my first time. The cartos aren't nearly as satisfying as they used to be, and I've never been a fan of constantly refilling carts either. I ordered the ego tank, and was wondering if anyone had any advice? What should I expect? Is it true that the flavor isn't very strong? Generally what should I expect? I chose the tank because I can easily control the level of nicotine, as well as the seeming convenience. Any tips tricks or opinions are greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hey Unc - welcome back. Experience on the eGo-t has varied but many vets are liking it a lot. Most are preferring the B type tanks/attys. For some reason, there isn't some of the problems people were having with the A types. Volume may have something to do with that. Do all things one would do with new atomizers - blow out the primer - I do it from the batt end and with mouth only. The way these work is that there is a spike where the normal 'bridge' would be for a regular atomizer. Inside the spike is a wick and at the bottom of the wick a little 'fluff' that sits on the coil. The biggest problem, imo, has been that the wick gets out of place - sometimes too low and sometimes too high - if too low proper wicking is not occuring and there is more of a likelyhood of leaking. If too high, then ejuice isn't getting to the coil.

Because the system is tight - and the specs on the diameter of the atty casing can vary slightly - pushing the tank on forcefully has in a few cases 'blown' the wicking totally out of the spike.

One other thing that I do is prepuncture the tank. You can use the spike in the atty to do this but with an empty tank. Then I open up the tank's cap and clip off the 'chad' - this isn't necessary for functioning because it gets moved out of the way by the spike but I (and most others) use the hole for filling rather than removing and replacing the cap. But since you have the cap off to cut the chad, you can do your initial fill via the cap. You'll need a fine tipped bottle or a needle tipped bottle or a small pipette or syringe to fill through the hole. The reason for this is that multiple on/off's of the cap could get ragged - also the cap has two opposing rounds sides and two flat - so it is necessary to get them right and it snaps into place tight. That said, with the tanks being not that expensive - and the possibility that replacement caps may come available - one can forgo the fine tip/needle tip fill and fill through the cap but know that you'll likely have to replace them eventually. I have some great fine tip bottles from cignot, so I'm still filling through the hole.

When you put the tank on, it may be tight - again, specs' - so put it on slowly but you'll have to use some force to fully seat it but that end 'tap' isn't enough to move the wick. Slapping the whole tank in could.

It's best to have a few of these going - for one thing power vaping heats up the atty and ejuice loses viscosity and when that happens you increase the possibility of flooding where too much ejuice is going through the pipe into the coil area and then out the air channels or center post hole. So 'giving it a break' by having a few others PV's going is always a good idea - even for the other PV's. I use 100% VG - that is my VG blending base is 80:20 VG:H2O which brings the viscosity to a regular PG level. I also use a PG nic base (decadent vapours platinum ice at totally wicked) and then flavoring - I'm all DIY. That said, the consensus is to keep the VG and PG at the 50:50 level. I disagree but most are in that range or even lower VG like PG:VG 75:25. Your choice. I wouldn't use Johnson Creek's PG in tanks - it is thinner than most PG premixed.

Carrying the eGo-t close to the body can also create the heat to lower the viscosity of the ejuice and increase the possibility of leaking. I've never experienced that but there are reports elsewhere. I do carry it in the cloth case and usually not in a tshirt pocket.

One other thing that was happening more with the A type tanks even with me was a darkening/burning of ejuice at the very end of a tank. The best advice on any pv is to refill, top off, drip, change cartos when you first detect a loss in flavor, if you go past that point you'll go to no flavor, burnt flavor and either a burnt atty taste that you'll have to clean out or a burnt atty/carto that you'll have to replace. So refill the tank before it goes completely out - the blue tanks are easier to see when the tank is low. The smoke tanks look better, imo - but you'll need to hold it up against light to make that determination.

I may be an exception but I'm getting more flavor in the B types to where I'm considering lowering the flavor ratio in my DIY formula for two flavors. Flavors react differently to wattage - some are enhanced and some are weakened, so that's something you should keep in mind. I'm getting next to dripping type flavor from the B's. Not so much with the A's and the LR's so far, I have two strong flavors that are holding up well on the B LR's I have (LR= low resistance - in this case @1.8-1.9Ω - where the regular B's (and A's) are @2.2-2.4Ω.

Hope that helps :)

Hey guys - Unc, Tomcatt, John - welcome. Scottbee and I had "betas" for the first eGo-t's so we've been reporting and then following up on threads concerned - Scott's away on other stuff right now. Sometimes it's just those 'habitual things' that make a difference. I don't think I said to wipe the tank clean before inserting too. Any wetness on the outside could 'siphon' stuff on the inside AND.... many of these ideas were things I picked up from others - ournature, cozzican, Vicky and others along the way.
