Secret pg/vg ratio?

hello all,
So i was just had some email correspondence with the gentleman over at theecig.com, I'll spare you from the whole story but i did ask what their juices are, PG,VG or a mix. If a mix what ratio.
He asked what flavor i was reffering to. I cave him two on opposite sides of the spectrum. Banana was real throaty and cake batter was real smooth. he told me 100% PG and 100% VG respectively.
I thanked him and suggested that the ratios be stated on the web site at time of purchase. His response was
"We would like to keep our ratios secret because other vendors will steal our mixtures.I hope that helps"

My question is, is this normal or should i feel sketched out about a propitiatory mixture. I know some sites let you pick the ratio.
Im new btw and i have found a wealth of information on here and feel I am actually not as overwhelmed so thank you all for that
No analogs since 5/10/13

I was also thinking that. I was going to rebut with "Well what if im allergic to PG, how am I to know what juice to buy" but i figured I would just get the run around of reasons. I guess its off to a different vendor. Being new and never using anyone else recomondations to vendors are welcome.
thanks in advance

This is the second thread I've read today about vendors being less than forthcoming and/or snippy when asked about their products. What's goin' on? People can't answer a couple questions?

Not disclosing PG/VG ratio for fear of the recipe getting stolen? What, are these people making Coca-Cola?

On to a different vendor, lickety-split.

I know some juice vendors are "sensitive" to being questioned about their juice's composition and refuse to be specific, but personally speaking any that do that have just lost any business from me.

Nearly all of the professional e-liquid makers freely state the Pg/Vg composition of their e-liquids. In fact, most allow you to customize your juice within a limited number of ratios.

There's quite a few big name vendors that don't allow you to chose pg/vg ratio.
That may be the case. However, they would never enter into my consideration of earning my credit card number.

I don't understand the need for secrecy. The Pg/Vg ratio should have little to do with stolen recipe fears that they give as a reason for withholding basic information, and could possibly result in personal safety issues.

I don't know if it's necessarily secrecy although I'm not sure Halo gives their ratio out. They may if you ask them. I don't think Johnson's creek allows you to select ratio although they have a VG line. BWB doesn't. AVE has just a few options. Phluid either. They seem to do OK. Vapor Station either although I think their juice is 60/40.

I've ordered from all of them- been happy. I do wish AVE had an option for more PG,but that's the breaks I guess.

I understand that some people NEED to know whats in their juice. I also understand that some people WANT to know, and since youre the consumer that should be good enough.

But I also understand if a company doesnt want to make their pg/vg ratios public knowledge. While knowing those 2 ingredient ratios alone isnt enough to copy a recipe it is enough to get them off to a good start.

Personally if you shoot the company an email and they ask the specific juice your interested in and you tell them and they then disclose their ratio then what are you complaining for?. So you have email the company? Big deal... you should be proud to buy from a company that takes enough interest in their juices to protect them.

NOW if youre the kind of person that enjoys different ratios and would like a vendor that not only discloses ratios but also allows you to choose from multiple then you have a logical reason to move on to the next one.

I'm sorry if OP read as a complaint. it was an inquiry. I'm realizing , being new to this, I'm not a fan of 100% PG and curious to know the deal with disclosing ratios

I think that's a little unusual. While some don't have the option to let you select the ratio, most will tell you what it is.

Plenty of fish in the sea! Who knows, maybe soon you'll be making your own!
