I was on a date yesterday attending an outdoor event, there were lots of smokers there. I was vaping on my Tornado and found out later that my date had to convince the people running the event and security that it was NOT something illegal..

My date didn't want to embarass me at the event so he told me later. I was hee hawing!

Kind of explains some of the funny looks I got stuck in traffic on the way home. I'm going to get pulled over I just know it. :headbang:

It would be kind of hard to prove its not that unmentionable substance in liquid form... Technically I think that if a Police Officer is inlcined not to believe your explanation they could make you wait in a grey bar hotel until the lab tests come back (if they wanted to I mean).

I could be wrong, but I think thats how it works (potentially at least).

I am no lawyer but...

Laws in different countries vary of course, but I think that in the US, the maximum amount of time someone can be detained without being formally charged with having committed a crime is generally one day. Also look at: Habeus Corpus.

The Fifth Amendment to The Constitution of The United States says, in part,

"No person shall be held to answer for any capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; ... nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law".

I do however, think they could probably confiscate your PV for testing to confirm our deny their suspicions and not return it for quite some time.

It would still be a heck of a hassle though. I think that if something like that ever happened to me, I'd probably be looking to engage the services of the nastiest, meanest junk-yard-dog lawyer I could find to sic on them. :glare:

well i usually use atomic cinnicide and the smell right away lets an officer know its not something illegal plus i carry a card with me that explains what it is i am doing. the one time i was pulled over i used it while waiting on the ticket and the cop was more interested on where to get one rather then what i was inhaling lol

I too had an unfortunate encounter with a traffic enforcement officer recently. (I lucked out though, I didn't get the ticket! lol) My first thought was about how he would view the PV and bottle of mysterious juice with the handwritten label on it that was lying on my passenger seat. I decided that the best thing to do was sit there quietly and vaping away to my heart's content, while he ran my information. I figured the most suspicious looking think I could have done was to act like I was worried about it or try to hide it. Turns out he didn't even say anything about it.

I've found the best way to not get suspicious looks, etc. has been being completely open about vaping and educating wherever the oportunity has presented itself. :)

Of course, there is always that one ol' sorehead... but he's never happy about anything else either! ROFL

Actually I believe the more standardized timeframe is 72 hours before being formally charged. :)

Ya I was thinking about that "false arrest" angle but of course all that needs to be proved is a "reasonable suspicion" and dang these things look like drug paraphernalia...

Yup, reasonable suspicion is a pretty "loose" standard and fairly easy to prove. I mean... reasonable according to who? lol

You may be right about 72 hours, I'm not certain. I do know that such matters might vary somewhat between various jurisdictions, especially if different countries are involved. If I needed to know a more definitive answer to that question I would consult an reputable attorney familiar with the laws local to the situation. :)

ACLU - Know Your Rights: What To Do If You're Stopped By Police, Immigration Agents or the FBI

My extended family's been printing up copies of this and keeping them in purses/wallets after a couple of recent encounters with law enforcement (we're beige and a lot of us live in the Southwest). It's good information, though, that everyone should know regarding how to behave when stopped by LEOs. So few people think it'll happen to them, and that's where they make mistakes.

Note these are only applicable in the USA.

I live in a small town and have wondered how long it will be before I get pulled over. Seems I remember a post some time ago about this and LEO can swab your PV instantly at the scene to determine if it is being used for an illegal substance. I have thought about going down to my local Police Dept. and offering an education session. There are many mods that look nothing like a standard cigg, mine included.

I don't Know about you but I've never seen paraphenalia that looked like a PV. Don't act like you are doing something suspect and you won't look suspicious.

Ya know I was looking at different flavors you can get for DIY eliquids, and PA (I think it was PA, don't know about others) have a "Mary Jane" flavoring. I can't help but wonder what it actually smells like but it sounds like a recipe for disaster for public consumption.

I thought about maybe getting a sample if I finally bite the bullet and start making my own juice to let a couple friends, who love playing with my ecig whenever I go to their house, for :censored: and giggles to see what they say lol

The reviews say it smells pretty close but has a bit more of a pine / woodsy taste. PA calls it a *mellow* vape :)

But yeah, I doubt you'd want to vape that in your car or in public heh
