Seeing dogs tied to boxes makes me want to smoke and smoke hard

I put my dog out in the cold weather. He loves it out there. I have an albino husky. He stays out all the time in the winter. In the summer I can't get him to out at all.

Just because someone has their animal outside does not mean they don't love them. I love my dog he's all I have, and he knows what he wants.

Becca, you have sympathy for the dog and that is good, but smoking isn't the answer. Think of yourself too, do you really want to go back to puffing on cigarettes? Ask yourself that question, the next time the urge to light up, hits you. Take some extra puffs on your e-cig and try to think of something other than smoking. Please?

I get where you're coming from, go to the supermarket, person ties dog to post outside, snow freezing cold windy, and the dog has no jacket on and hardly enough of a fur to keep him warm. Dog is shivering and shaking and looking around for his owner pacing. Scared. For way over an hour!! Can't say it would make me want to vape much more or reach for a smoke.

It makes me want to give that so & so a big fat slap and have him tied to a lamp post naked just so we can see how he likes it!!!

Of course then, if I were ever to take such action and the police came to arrest me, I would need to chain vape A Lot!

Yeah i mean its really a matter of the dog, some dogs are totally ok with cold and others not at all. However being tied to a lampost is another thing in itself thats pretty annoying. If its for a couple minutes ok i guess, but an hour? They should have just left the dog home where it could be comfy and safe

Yes, it all depends on the dog, to reply and make Becca feel like a fool, is not nice. Some dogs can handle the cold and relish it, but some are not made for it. I have a greyhound and put that poor dummy out there and he would freeze to death in a few, no body fat and very short thin hair, not fur.

For those dogs that enjoy the cold and are built for it, are the ones that suffer in the heat even worse than most dogs. Ive seen people who leave their dogs tied up in the summer with out shade or enough water, they figure the weather is so wonderful "for " their human selves but dont think that even on a 80 degree day, a husky, lab or any dog with higher percentage of body fat and heavy fur can over heat so quickly. People are just careless and insensitive.

I dont understand having a dog and thinking that they can work 5 days a week , be gone for 8-10 hours a day, have a social life etc. A dog is a big responsibility , its like having a 3 year old that never grows up and needs you.

I feel the same way about dogs, though I don't feel the need to smoke, I do wonder what the owner is smoking ...

But I'm a cat person. Even though she could be outside overnight in sub-zero weather and show up the next day none the worse for wear, the only time she sees snow is when she's in the window dreaming of laying waste to some vermin.

It's ok to show compassion for animals, but realize there are plenty of mammals that were made to handle the cold. Just not us.

All up in your grill..
What I find disturbing is that here we have a person who is admittedly struggling with their addiction. An addiction that most if not all of us can relate to and some people's initial response to that reads like: "Shut up you're stupid." Most dogs can handle the cold. But why would anyone want to attack a person who just said they are struggling with smoking addiction? Is that what this forum is about? Feeling better about ourselves by putting someone else down who just admitted they were struggling?

I get where your coming from to. As a Vet Tech we have seen animals this year in Central New York that have gotten to cold. Yes some dogs can be outside for long periods of time in the cold but not all off them. I let my puppy out for awhile and she loves to play in the snow but she is a puppy and has hardly any body fat so no matter what she wants I limit her out door time. If you own a sled dog sure leave him outside but sled dogs run with a sled so they keep warm that was to, tying them up doesn't have the same effect. Just my thoughts but to me my pets are a part of my family.

What's really a tragedy is that those poor dogs out in the cold might have a dead battery in their mod, or can't refill their own cart because of God's cruel design that robbed them of opposable thumbs.

We should all stop every time we see a dog tied up and offer him a toot from our Provari's... Let's end this senseless suffering at once!
