ECF,

Yes..it is that time...I was essentially worthless at work all day today because I spent 95% of my day reading here and following links to find out what I need for my first kit..so after a very informative and exciting, yet pretty mind-numbing day of pv information seeking...

Here's what I've come up with..I'll follow up with a few questions after..

1 x Riva510 Starter Bundle -

**includes**

2 x 750mAh Battery
2 x 510 Atomizer - 2.2 ohm resistance
1 x USB Fast Charger
1 x USB Mains Plug (US
10 x Blank Carts - e-liquid will be required to fill the cartridges, sold separately
1 x Atomizer Cone

1x 18 gauge needles with syringe
1x 16 gauge needle

1x E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Chocolate - Low - 8MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Lemon - High - 18MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Melon - Medium - 14MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Menthol Smooth - Medium - 14MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Mint - Extra High - 24MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others Pear - High - 18MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - VG - Others VG Mint - High - 18MG
1x E Liquid 5ML - VG - Others VG Spearmint - High - 18MG

For some back story...I've smoked 1 - 1.5 PAD of Marlboro Ultra Lights for about 5 years.
Though, that was increasing to more like 1.5 - 2 PAD in the last few months as my body as begun to crave more and more of the nasties in analogs as well as nicotine.

****My Question.... (finally..)

1. Does this look like a suitable starter...

I wanted to order all from one place that I know is reputable (just personal preference for first order) so I understand I have limited myself to straight PG or VG..

But, outside of that.. is there anything else that you veterans would recommend for an newbie that is just joining the party with a somewhat flexible but ultimately minimum expense budget?

2. While I understand everyone is different in tastes and preferences...does that look like a reasonable juice selection as far as variety and mg's is concerned for someone at my levels and types of analog usage? For info's sake..I am not a particularly huge fan of the taste of tobacco...just got used to it as a source of my nicotine after a few analogs got me hooked.

I appreciate all of your input!

Thank you for all of the advice :)

**if anyone cares..got this shipped for $55 from freedom-flights...I'm feeling like that wasn't too bad of a deal.**

Looks like a fine order to me! If this kit comes with cartridges instead of cartomizers you may not need the needles as you just drip the juice in the polyfil in the cartridges! Wouldn't hurt to have the syringes though for measuring DIY stuff later!
Did you get them at Liberty Flights as I see you are from san diego and so are they?

Your hardware choice is fine. I would suggest you consider the eGo/Tornado Tank models before you make your final decision. I've read good things and wish they were available when I started.

Your juice selections are fine too, except for the nicotine content. At 1.5 to 2 packs per day, I'd suggest you start out with 24 mg nic juices. At least 18 mg. Your 8 mg juice selections might have flavor your really enjoy, but it's unlikely they'll satisfy your nicotine craving. You can progress towards that point with a tapering down strategy, though.

I've yet to try an e-juice that was straight PG or VG. PG is thinner and will give you a more distinct throat hit. VG is thicker and will give you more vapor. 80/20 & 70/30 PG/VG juices have worked well for me so far. I have some 70/30 VG/PG steeping that I look forward to trying in another week or so. I'm hoping it will work like a ninja's smoke bomb, so I can puff out a huge cloud of thick vapor and then make a hasty retreat.

Welcome to ECF and I am happy to see you have done your homework. The only suggestion I would have is that you might want to add some of the Boge LR 2.0 ohm cartos. They will work on the rig you bought and they are great when you can't drip or use carts (like when driving). They hold about 1ml of juice and last a long time. LF has them towards the botom of the main page.

I'm confused as to why a cartridge won't work while driving? That isn't something I've encountered before.. I've read enough about carto's that I think I want to pick a few up regardless..

But, could you clue me as to why the standard cartridges won't work in the car?

I appreciate that info, I thought I might like to have a few low dose juices just to vape on before bed, but for the first sampler sizes I think 24 - 18 is really my wheel house and 14 can be my mellow mood juice :2cool:.

(unfortunately, most of my choices were based on flavor and availability of juices through liberty...but the price is just right and shipping should be amazing since apparently they are about 4 miles away :p)

Thank you for all the information and responses!

I don't have a problem with using cartridges while driving...I just fill it before I leave the house. Lasts my drive to work, which is 35minutes. If I were driving longer, I would have to drop some drops in at a red light or pull into a QT or something. That's great that they are so close to u!! If u are ever desperate for juice you could just ask if you could pick some up!!! Wish my vendor, or any vendor, was close by!! I am in St. Louis & I buy from Arizona & China...don't think I'll be stopping by their place anytime soon...lol

I'd get a mix of the nic mg content too... like you said different vape for different times works in the real world...
be careful to get little samples if poss. since you may not like the juice or the flavor... there is so much out there, and i have been stuck with some juices that i didn't like...
LF is a good company according to some so you did good... but be careful... with juice orders; once you find a couple you like, and a supplier you like, then you can go for it... you'd be surprised about where your flavor preferences take you... some get confirmed on tobacco juices and some get on food/beverage tastes.

There seems to be a strong divide between the two among vapers...

and there are lots of different juice suppliers out there too.
it's best to go with what most others are saying (recommending) at first... and you'll also find there are lots of opposing views simply because of individual preference.

Thanks ukeman,

That's kind of what I figured on asking for tastes and preferences. I've been pretty open to some different flavors, but I really do want to get a good first test and if I get a bottle or two that isn't to my liking it only cost me about $1.50 anywho I guess :)

I am considering getting a 30 ml bottle of a good mixing juice..but I'm struggling to find a good one to go for...

The research continues :)

If they are that close, you might send them an email and ask if you could pick it up instead of them shipping it? Won't hurt to ask!

I'm only holding off on ordering it right now because I am planning on waiting for their response first :) Plus it gives me extra time to research juices...and probably buy more juice :p

Great Vendor. If you are looking to completely quit analogs, and you can invest the cost of one months vaping up front:

2 extra Riva batteries (or one at least as a backup)
1 extra Riva charger, or a pass through if available for the riva (they have them for the ego, so I have to guess they are the same passthough)
5 pack of 510 attys
5 pack of LR306 attys

Pick up some of the boge cartomizers as was suggested earlier. These work great, and if you load 2 on two different egos and take them both with you, they will last you all day. And you can switch off with 2 different flavors.

You should also scour this forum for juice vendors and as around for vendor suggestions which each flavor you may be after.

Once you have the above equipment and find a few juices you love, you will be set for months if you take care of those attys. Then you can be on the look out for a mod. I will be getting my first mod next week.

Sounds to me like you had a very productive day at work! :)
Very good choices. I wish you all the best and I am certain you will experiment and find something that suits you well.
I would definitely agree with higer mg nic if you are planning on quiting the analogs completely, but you have done some great research, so I am certain you can figure this out.

Stifle I was just giving a suggestion since I find Carts to be a royal PITA. Some people swear by them but since I use LR atty's my cart days are long gone. I suggested the cartos since they perform well and hold about 25 drops as opposed to the 6 or 7 a cart holds. If you are like me 6 or 7 drops is on a cart is about 15 good pulls on a satndard atty and that just does not cut it on a 45 min drive!

Liv2Ski, (side-note: I've skied my entire life and it is my favorite activity in the world, so I think you get dibs on coolest ECF name so far, in fact, it was the only time I don't crave analogs...go figure)

But, I digress. After doing a lot of research last night... (apparently until I get my pv I am substituting ECF for Analogs..lol) I found that a carto will probably be where I will end up headed anyway so I went ahead and picked up 5 of them. When I read your response i truly didn't understand the drip/carto/cart+ato processes and now I'm a lot more comfortable and I think you are spot on in recommending some cartos, thank you for the recommendation.

Here is what the order looks like now... (shorter version)

2 x Riva510 Setups
5 x 5ml PG 24mg various flavors
1 x 5ml PG 36mg mint
1 x 5ml PG 18mg choc
1 x 30ml VG 24 mg - Fruit Mix (for cutting and Every day vape)
5 x boge cartos 2.0 ohms
1 x Extra Ego Cone

All have been purchased from Liberty-Flights...and oddly enough as someone mentioned above, if you are in the SD area you can go pick up same day M-F 9-5. I was really excited to hear that since they are about 5 minutes from my house. Having a seemingly great supplier near me is a god send for success I think.

Last questions before I place the order..

1. I haven't purchased and extra Ato because I ordered the cartos. I know cartos are priced to be disposable, but if you follow proper cleaning and care steps (keep it wet!) I should be able to substitue those for the extra atomizer, correct? Extra Ato would only be necessary if I was using carts and needed a third for back-up as I understand it.

2. Dripping with Riva510/eGo ... I couldn't find a good drip tip from Liberty-Flights that was in stock so I decided to hold off on purchasing one. My question..with the setup on the eGo class PVs is it possible to just drip onto the ato and then put the atomizer cone over it and use a blank cart as a piece while I experiment with dripping? Or will I be missing parts of the experience without the tip?

Thanks again for all of the info, you guys and gals are awesome!

1. Since you live so close to LF and they'll let you pick up in person, you don't have to stock up like most of us do. If I were you, I'd keep two spare unused cartos and 20 mL's of juice on hand at any given time. When you have to start using one of your last 2 cartos and/or start vaping from your last 20 mL of juice, it's time to replenish your inventory. The 2 carto/20 mL juice rule should keep you in business if worst comes to worst and you have to make it through a 3 or 4 day weekend or something like that.

2. Yes. An empty cartridge with the filler removed is just fine for using as a mouth piece when dripping directly on to your atty. You just can't drip through it and will have to take it off to drip more juice on to your atty.

5 minutes from Liberty Flights...

wow at that price it's a no brainer... if so...

but my point is, there may be other juice suppliers who make a juice you like more than this one... i am not familiar with LF juices.. i go with companies that focus on juice only..

as far as a 30 for fruit flav. for mixing, fruit will be fruit and only mixes with certain things; like cina bomb or arctic ice imo. i.e cina bomb or arctic ice w/ fruit is great!

there are neutral tasting juices that go good with tobaco, coffe, baked goods, ... like BWB's malty, vanilla bean...
other companies make nice coco nut... these neutrals are pleasing in themselves and can tone down or stretch a stronger flavor...

my point was don't overstock on one company's juice unles you know you'll like it...
