Hi. First post here!

I'm new to e cigs...well, sort of. I tried a blu e cig about 4 years ago and after 3 months was smoking analogues again. I tried it again 1 year ago and didn't even last one month. I've been trying to smoke a v2 cig for the past 4 months with moderate success, but I still fall back on analog cigarettes.

I just bought a joyetech ego-c after having tried a friend's and being completely impressed. it's currently on its way. my question is, is there anywhere online that I can find a "for dummies" instruction on some of the lingo in the e-cigarette world as well as comparisons and explanations of volts verses watts in a battery and why I should care, and other things like cartomizers verses atomizers verses whatever else, and instruction on how to properly use e-liquid? I have no idea what people post about on here because I don't understand any of it. I almost feel embarrassed to admit the extent of naivety I have in the e-cigarette world.

Please help my confused brain.

First off, welcome to our forum and congrats on your decision to switch from smoking to vaping.

If you are willing to spend some time on this website, you'll learn just about everything you will need to know. At the top of the homepage is a special place for beginners to start out called the "InfoZone".

I've created several blog articles for beginning vapors that can be found here E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs and here E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs

You'll find descriptions of the more common juice delivery devices, how they look on batteries, and videos on how to fill them. In the article on the Starter's Setup, there's a video at the end that demonstrates how the variable voltage eGo Vision Spinner works.

On your question on ohms, resistance, voltage, and watts; this article gives some useful information: Guide to Safe Vaping - E-Cigarette Safety | Ecig Advanced Community Blog

PBusardo is a popular You Tube reviewer of e-cig products who did a beginner's guide to vaping gear and technology. About half way through, he forgets who he made this video for and becomes too technical for most beginners, but the first half is very good.

Yep, indeed there is: The ECF Library forum. In there, you'll find more information than you ever wanted. Also, do a search in ECF to see what comes up. We all started in the New Member forum clueless and wanting to get off the analogs.

Couple of intro tips to help sift through the info:
Variable Volts: helps to fine tune the power output of the batter. Some coils or atomizers have different needs. Lower resistance will need lower voltage and higher resistance needs higher voltage.
Cartomizers: hold the juice (with a poly fill blend) and atomizer all in one. I have one of these for the times when I don't want to deal with clearomizer tanks and whatnot...like when I'm out and about town and don't want to carry all my gear.
Cartomizer Tank (often called DCT): Holds a cartomizer and a tank for extra juice.
Clearomizers: Are tanks that hold the juice and the atomizer and wick (often called coil heads). These come in different varieties and can be finicky depending on which one you get. I have a few that I rotate around.
Atomizers (slightly different than above): are the heating element. These often come with a cartridge that is filled with a poly fill blend. Drop some ejuice into the poly filled cartridge, put the cartridge on the atomizer, and vape away.
Vape: the act of vaping ejuice or eliquid or nic juice...many terms.

Tell me more about the set up you ordered. Maybe post a link. We can tell you more when we know more.

Good luck and welcome...chime in often with questions, problems, concerns...we're all in this thing...

Welcome to ECF - and trust me we all started with no knowledge and were very confused with what to get

any specific questions you ask will be answered by many and then you can just see what we suggest and make up your own mind

at this time I am suggesting beginners start with an ego twist or vision spinner battery 650 mah or larger and evod clearomizer

the twist (or spinner) will allow you to set the voltage for the best flavor and the evod has replacement heads available to keep the cost down

Get 2 of each so you don't get caught with a dead battery or a bad head (or get a kit with 2 batteries, and charger)

This is a good kit to start with (comes with 2 clearo's already - but evod's are much better and more reliable)

DV eGo Twist Starter Kit - 900mah Stainless

Kanger eVod Clearomizers

Here is good site by PBusardo who does a lot of equipment reviews

http:/..................../wordpress/

and a good video to watch

http:/..................../wordpress/2013/01/02/beginners-guide-to-e-cigs-and-e-cig-tech/

EDIT - sorry about the bad links - but the main one is listed in the post above

and of course the sticky's located here

I started almost 10 months ago just on a whim. Got my first cig-sized with cartomizers, then an ego, then a couple of different clearomizers. Did I start with the best kit? Probably not. Did I start with the best juice? definitely not. But all the while, I was on here daily, reading...watching youtube...learning. After a little while, I began to get the hang of it all.

All I'm saying is that I learned by doing...and I suspect you will, too. Enjoy the journey.

Hello and Welcome! Wasn't too long ago I came here to learn and thought my head as going to explode after it got done spinning! Seemed like the more I learned, the more I felt like I didn't know. Eventually it all started to make sense and I'm sure you'll also get to the point where you feel less lost. Give yourself time to absorb what you learned and for your brain to put it in an order you can understand. Have faith, it'll happen. I would venture a guess to say most people were right in your place at one time. There is so much information and so many great people here to help get you on your way. Never be embarrassed or afraid to ask something. No question is unimportant or too stupid to be asked!!!
