Hello,

My girlfriend and I are seeking to replace our 510 setup, and hopefully get something with longer battery life. She's also a big fan of throat hit, but I'm more into the flavor and vapor.

I think the eGo would fit us well, due to the price and longer battery life. We don't like the style of it, but I've noticed that we can't keep a penstyle ecig if we want good battery life :)

and since she enjoys throat hit more, and I enjoy vapor more: she could get LR atomizers, and myself higher resistance, maybe 3.0 and above? Any supplier links to good places for both low and high resistance atomizers would be helpful :)

Any advice on other models to consider would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I agree with your assessment that the Ego would fit, especially since you already have a 510 and the parts would be interchangeable (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, or clarify if there are certain parts which would not be). As for suppliers, I really can't help much as I use a kr808, but you pretty much can't go wrong with any of the forum suppliers.

The eGo or Riva would be a good fit. Yes, they are bigger, but they aren't that big. Mine fit in the palm of my hand.
Be careful with the LR attys. They will drain your battery faster and you have to keep them wet when you're using them otherwise they'll pop. Quite a few people have been using the Cisco LR attys with the eGo, but you need to understand there are risks involved that can include ruining the switch in your battery. I would not suggest using any HR attys with these batteries, either. Those type of atomizers are designed for High Voltage Mod vaping only. I'm using the 3.0ohm CE2 cartos with my eGo and Riva and really liking them, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.

There's a Leo under the xmas tree for me right now ;-) so I can't let you know if it's a good idea...

There are a few ways to go here -
The most obvious would be something like an eGo/Riva. 10+ months into vaping,
I still use my eGo almost every day... I still buy the batts etc...
Or you could get a Mod... Mods can be relatively affordable.. box mods... some laser-pointer mods...

What I wished I learned earlier was that it's the atomizer that truly changes/enriches the vaping experience.

510, LR510, 901, LR901, 808, 801/BE112/302 and these 306 atties really rock...

If you get another 510 connector... get attachments for these other atties and try them... I love 901's and 306's.
Get some cool drip tips.

As far as Batteries go, if you don't go the route of a 900+MAH eGo... check out a 14500 or 18640 Battery Mod... like Madvape's rough stack or pro-vape etc...
The Buzz from notcig is also popular.

I have a Buzz, a Bartleby (Box Mod), 6 eGo batts, a 510 passthough and an array of 808 batts. I also had a saber touch...

Riva @ Liberty Flights for $29.99: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510. While you're there, get a few LR attys: Low Resistance Atomizers - Joye 510 Low Resistance

In my opinion, which does not amount to a hill of beans, this is one of the best sales around. They are in stock. I think you have a couple color choices available. Liberty Flights is registered here at ECF. They provide fast shipping and cheap shipping - just $2.99 per order! They have exceptional customer service.

Before you check out there is a spot for Discount Code (or something of that nature)
Type in: ECF And the discount is taken immediately.

This Riva is a great PV and I highly recommend it. There are many other good suppliers here at ECF. The price, the quality, the reasonable shipping charge, the customer service, the reputation, is all top notch with Liberty Flights. I know. I use them.

I'm using the 3.0ohm CE2 cartos with my eGo and Riva and really liking them,

The CE2 cartomizers do produce vapor really well with the eGo. Unfortunately, I could not get them to wick fast enough for me. I pretty much had to drip into them to keep the coil wet enough all the time to avoid that metallic taste. I tried a few things, like opening up the notches on the inner plug. Just as a test, I even tried running without the inner plug, holding the PV down so the juice wouldn't pour out. Nothing I did made any difference. This was with some R4 ones from MadVapes.

Out of curiousity, what is the temperature of the vapor that comes out of this model?
As an example, the vapor from an RN4081 feels like it's room temperature. The vapor from the KR808d-1 feels warm, like taking a breath on a hot, humid day.
What is the temp of this one?

Its going to depend on your atomizer...at lower resistence..2.0 and down it gets warmer ..more kr808 like...but at 2.5-3.0 its a room temperature vape normally

+1 on Riva from LF. One of the better 'bang for buck' things going at the moment imho. You can always use the button as a heat control device. I often get off the button about two seconds into a four second pull because I like cool vapor--I think it has better flavor that way. I also vote +1 on the new E2 cartos. They're the cleanest tasting cartos I've found. I take out both plugs and drip my juice in down the sides, pop on a drip tip and go. No wicking problems for me but I don't chain vape.

So let me get this straight:

If I want cooler vapor, I want higher resistance? So a 3.0 atomizer or above?

First of all, I don't think you want to be using a 3.0 Ohm atty with a Riva, or pretty much anything else that produces less than 5.0V. Yeah, you'll get cool vapor—whatever minimal vapor you get will be cool, that is; it'll not be that much different that sucking on a soda straw.

It's more to the point to think of the thing in terms of Watts; the Riva and/or eGo are billed as 3.7V devices, but they produce that—or more—only on a full charge, and only briefly. After that, 3.4V is more like it. With, say, a 2.2 Ohm atty, the device is consuming about 5.25 Watts.

You don't have to do the math on this; I don't: Ohm's Law / Watt's Law Calculator

Once you know the Watt figure that gets you where you want to be, you can play with the other variables to get there. Personally, more like 9.0 Watts works for me—but probably wouldn't for you (although it might for your TH-loving girlfriend).

3.4V with a 1.5 Ohm atty will get you 7.7 Watts, and you'll find vapor production to be prodigious.

Note on LR attys: there's lots of discussion that goes on herein that warns of blown attys, blown switches or dead batteries as a result of using LR attys with Rivas or eGos, and good theoretical cases are often made; all I have to offer in that regard is my personal anecdote: I've used the same Riva/LR atty combination for months, and have yet to lose a battery or an atty before its natural lifespan.
