I don't think that the fact that he consulted for, among other BPs, Johnson & Johnson (Nicorette) and Pfizer (Chantix, Nicotrol) bodes well.
In typical government fashion, they are trying to stop the rising trend of H addiction by overly regulating legal pain medication. Because it's a "gateway."I am a long time pain management patient and am wondering what is the recent uproar over opiate medications about? Oxycontin and others in that class were reformulated years ago to make them much less appealing for abuse. The delivery system was changed so that a person could no longer crush them up to get 12 hours worth of medication all at once. In fact, most of them became much less effective for chronic pain patients as well who are using them as prescribed. I'm quite sure they're going to make things even more difficult than it already is for those of us who have a legitimate need
I'm really tired of all this regulation BS. People who abuse substances will always find things to abuse.

Complete Agree.
And I Don't Think it bodes well for the FDA as a whole to have Anyone in a Leadership Position (at any Level) that has Financial ties that Mr. Califf does.
That's like finding a head of the SEC that wasn't an executive for a major BANK

No. He hates e-cigs with a passion and vowed to ban them. He's a total ANTZ--of the worst kind.

Also of note, rabid anti-cig Markey and Blumenthal voted against him, but not for any ecig reason, I'm guessing. But the op...te situation.

Bernie opposed his nomination, too. Again, for different reasons. It was their opposition that made me think he might not be ANTZ.
Really, ZoiD....
