Please read and let him know how you feel about his attack on e cigs.
It is my opinion that he should stay out of our lives and just retire.

Can't comment in the blurb because you need some facial media account to do it.
But my observations:

"Part of that efforts (sic) will be encouraging White House budget officials to move quickly on proposed regulations from the FDA." What proposed regs? (Note this appears to be commentary by the clueless reporter named Elise Viebeck. The (sic) is my editors correction.

"But critics argue that the battery-powered devices deliver a more powerful dose of nicotine per puff, posing a serious health risk." More powerful? You know where I'm going with this. Again, moronic reporter's comments/opinion/lies and/or misinformation.

"Harkin slammed e-cigarettes in announcing a comprehensive policy plan for his final year in office."
And then we also have the honorable Tom (Horrible) Harkin spewing uneducated drivel in his final year of office trying to go out with a bang.

Good to see this his final year trying to control the pursuit of happiness for all men & women who are created equal.

If you were the CEO of a multinational corporation and had to support a particular candidate, party and ideology, whether it be left or right, what is more advantageous?...

A. Donate to the DNC and GOP in equal amounts
B. Give it to Chuck Norris' campaign or else he'll kick your ...
C. Donate to conservative candidates who promise to do absolutely nothing for you and just leave you alone
D. buy the allegiance of statist big government candidates who will knee cap Your competition like Jeff Gilooly on Nancy Kerrigan so you can make billions

He probably just sees it as a slam dunk into a retirement lawn chair in his last year. Kick back and say "cigarettes are bad", "protect children", "bring me another scotch/escort"... blah, blah. Just another lazy, hypocritical politician doing his best to do his least. Doesn't mean he can't win if no one really opposes him with enough pull.

U know I'm going to have to be honest from my perspective my reality.
I actually love this section because you can be a bit more philosophical, and political...
But we got what we got cause people in my age range say from fifty to sixty went to sleep
at the switch.
We failed to keep up the pressure when the people in age range od late sixties to mid seventies
got tired.
When the auto industry was moved from Detroit the so called innercities
of the mid west; shipped to Canada and Mexico. Did anyone elese say anything
did we all stand up en masse side by side and protest? No
When Wille Nelson was standing up trying to save the independent farmers
did I care, nope. Why honestly cause they were in my minds eye a bunch
of good ol boy farmers who didn't like my black behind anyway.
So why should I care. Again did we come together en masse and stand side
by side and fight for them? No.
So now as a result of our disunity we gots what we gots.
We got Monsanto putting patents on seeds; growing GMO crops, we have a decimated
working class. Now its no longer manufacturing; now white collar
jobs have been are being given to immigrants who will work for lower wages.
If we as a whole don't stand together. We will be ravaged, like a carcas left
in the desert sun by scavangers.
I love the unity I see here on ECF, I love seeing everyone standing together
fighting the good fight.
In time I have seen a lot of change, and I for sure see things a lot differently
than I did twenty years ago.
I could go on about so much more, but I will cut it off here.
By anymeans peacefully necessary....... keep fighting the good fight
for our right to vape. We got this

Senator Harkin is a strong liberal politician. As any good liberal knows, Senator Harkin was elected because of this philosophy and is doing what he was elected to do. If you believe in this liberal philosophy, then it makes sense to support him in his efforts to protect us. Why would anyone who believes in the liberal, secular-progressive agenda be upset with Senator Harkin for legislating the liberal, secular-progressive philosophy?

He is up for re-election this mid-term (says he is "retiring") [Harkin announced on January 26, 2013 that he wouldn't seek a sixth term to the Senate]

Folks in Iowa...you know what to do
Or the next guy...well...he will just pick up the torch and keep on truckin'

Isn't this the state that has banned vaping in many locations?

A perfect exemplar of the blind leading the blind. It would be delusional to help that reporter understand principles of pharmacology, inhalation, pulmonary delivery and physics of device efficiency. It might likewise be a complete waste of time to attempt education of Mr. Harkin on an issue in which he appears to have already made up his mind, assuming one exists. The only question is what we, as vapers, are doing to counter this imbecility with factual, evidence-based arguments AND with statements of equivalent if not greater media exposure? Sad stuff, and worrisome as heck!

I posted a lengthy comment delineating how the FDA "deeming" regulation would ban all e-cigs, documenting FDA's 2009 e-cig ban and the federal court's overturning of that ban, FDA/CDC lies, and other inconvenient facts that Harkin doesn't want the public to know (including some that Harking probably doesn't know himself).

Sen. Harkin (like Sens. Durbin, Blumenthal, Brown, Merkley, Markey and previously Lautenberg and Kennedy) have done whatever Big Pharma funded CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA, AAP, etc. ask them to do on tobacco policy issues (e.g. enacting and falsely promoting the TCA as "protecting children from Big Tobacco", sponsoring legislation to increase taxes on smokeless and e-cigs to the same rate as cigarettes, pushing for FDA regulation of ALL tobacco products).
