Nice find juggalotus! Still don't have any extra funds to try these out as I am between jobs right now. But that's looking like the right direction.

yeah from what i have read ardinio mini can do just about all a normal ardinio does they love the hell out these things over on hack a day. Guess all my random reading and retaining paid off here finally

I started w/ the Arduino Mini Pro and migrated to a AtMega chip w/ the Arduino bootloader. Much smaller and cheaper.
