Ok, let me make this brief as possible. I'm guessing my wife (non smoker or vapor') seems to have developed a sensitivity to my vaping. She seems to have nasal congestion a lot when I'm home. I'm not a cloud chaser, so I don't fill the room and tend to blow my vape away from her.

Has anyone else experienced effects of "Second Hand Vapor"?

I wish I could help you. The only problem with "second hand vapor" that we have encountered was with two different eliquids that I had gotten from two different suppliers. Both had maple flavor in them, and they smelled and tasted "skunky" to me. That is the only way I can describe the smell and flavor. Sorry. No matter how long they steeped, the same smell and taste. I thought it was just me until my daughter - also a vaper - made a comment about the stink when I was trying one for the umpteenth time. Our house has an "open" floor plan for the common areas. I was in the dining room at my computer, she was a few feet away in the living room. Needless to say, I ditched both flavors, and I am very cautious when ordering anything that has maple favoring.

Perhaps she is having a reaction to the scent of the flavoring? Is she allergic to anything that either of you know? We are careful about vaping anything strawberry when my daughter's boyfriend is around - he is very allergic to strawberries, among other things. What is your pg/vg ratio? Do you think changing that might help her?

Well, my flavor is "Mighty Menthol" 50/50 mix. We too have an open floor plan, our "Grand Room" is 560 sq ft with 10 foot ceilings that's tied into our kitchen with a 5' wide path. My wife swears she can't smell my vapor, but somethings going on. She takes "cold tablets" to dry her up. I can't have her doing that.

It also could be totally unrelated to vaping and just be a coincidence. It could be (seasonal) allergy related. Many people say, "Oh, I don't have allergies!", quite emphatically without realizing that allergies can be present one year and not so bad the next. I know this year the counts were so high that symptoms presented in those with only mild allergies. These are usually the people that think their stuffing, sneezing, itchy faces and noses are either a cold or something else. Or if she is allergic to perfumes or cinnamon then it is quite likely she will have some sensitivities to second hand vape (from some juices)as well.

It could simply be her way of letting you know she just doesn't want vape around her. IMO second hand anything (perfume, cologne, vape, BO, smoke, passing gas) can be annoying to the one that has to breath it in.

yeah I'm going with what Jode said..

we're allergen central here in Houston, and my son doesn't vape huge allergic rhinitis issue (probably from my smoking cigs most of his life :() and the only complaint I've gotten from him is on one juice, if it's got "honey" or maple or any natural sweetener component..I'm told it smells like "ferret urine" by him and my daughter who vapes. (how I got that Scouts Honor one..it was "ferrety" and you know how that goes..you've smelled one ferret you've smelled them all).

turn the ceiling fan on..if that helps ...
but the only solution is to not vape around her if she's voicing some sort of discomfort about it or go 100% vg flavorless?

Actually, I'm just an observant husband, no complaining from her. She's told me that she'd rather I vape than smoke, but there's no hard evidence by either one of us that her congestion is vaping related.

I have bad allergies and they can really make your days miserable...you are such a sweetie for thinking of your wife, and your wife is such a sweet heart for thinking of you and keeping you off cigs even if the vaping is indeed what is bothering her.

I would vape outside for about a week and see if her symptoms improve. This is why i avoid vaping in indoor public places, you never know who may have allergies to something you are vaping, especially if they have asthma. I only vape in my room in the evenings after dark or if it's raining outside..the rest of the time i vape out on the porch. It helps prevent me from chain vaping and doesn't subject to my kids to second hand vape. I am finding a clear sticky film on my car's window that i crack and blow vape out through...yelk! i don't want those deposits on things in my house or my kids stuff. Something to think about as well if she is allergic or sensitive to something your vaping and having deposits on your furniture and stuff.

Now, we can't handle serious questions on a Tuesday morning .... I thought you knew that.

All you can do is try different things and observe the results.
Start by vaping outside for a week so that you can identify if vaping is even the problem.
If it is, start by vaping only VG in the house, Then add PG, then nicotine, then flavoring. Add one component at a time until you find the offending component of your juice formula.

I'll bet the problem is just those darn dust mites hanging around the kitchen.

    I'm leaning towards either :

    - something unrelated to vaping (seasonal allergies)

    - flavor in the juice - I have a hard time believing that there's enough PG or VG in the SHV to trigger allergy symptoms, since there are people on here that still vape them when they're allergic to them (although they adjust the ratio to compensate for the allergy) but I'm not so sure about the flavors

I'm glad your wife is supportive, so I support doing what you can to find out and fix this. I agree with the suggestions to vape outside for a week. I would also try a completely different (and mild) flavor.

Interesting topic. I didn't notice a hint of hay fever or allergies until my age got up there (before vaping). My wife has for years and recently went through testing which came back as having numerous causes. Before opting for the series of shots, we decided to try a good HEPA air purifier. We got a very good, but fairly expensive one that has a sensor and light that detects/shows air quality. It not only works great, but I exhale cape in the room and it senses it, adjusts fan speed, and eventually returns to normal mode. It has worked so well, shots have been put off indefinitely. I would highly recommend trying one!

I was at a small meet and greet with other people who vape (8-10 people) We were puffing away before a guy said he was having trouble breathing. He took a breather outside and then came back in. After a while he started to swell up and had to be taken to the hospital....turns out someone was vaping something with peanuts and the second hand affected him. Thought it was worth mentioning

This is exactly what I was going to say. Troubleshoot the problem and see if you can identify it. If none of this works you may want to try a different wife, switch yours out for one of those new younger models I keep hearing so much about ;)
