I have owned 2 bottom feeders and love the way they work. I had a Vmod XL when it first came out and loved it until my father swiped it lol, trying to get another is a major pain right now.

I also have an older Grip, that was supposed to be for my dad, the wood is not really my thing and certainly not durable enough for me for out and around.

Anyway After getting a bum mod recently I decided I need to shop smarter.

My first question is are there any wierd nuances with the Reo Grande that could throw me off if I purchase it?
What is the fastest thing to wear out on them?
What is the customer service like if there is a problem out of the gate or just customer service in general?

I do ask you folk to be brutally honest about the device, I need a good rugged dependable device with ppparts available should something wear out.

I am so frustrated with a recent purchase that I almost threw the towel in on vaping. I need something that just works with out any wierd crud.

I've only had my mini a month or so. But customer service is great! I lost the magnet in the door, made a post about finding replacements, and in 10 minutes - literally - Rob popped in and said he'd send a replacement. I got a pair of them about 3 days after my post. I suspect he sent them the same day. :)

If you poke around the REO forum a bit, you'll see how customer service is handled. It's top-notch.

I haven't found any "weirdness" with it, other than the fact it seems glued to my hand.

The fastest thing to wear out would probably be your thumb if you are a heavy button pusher. :D

Like the saying goes: You have tried the rest, now get the BEST!

I would suggest you take yourself on a tour of the sticky threads. Lots of information there.

Customer service: Well, Robert E. O'Neil has his phone number and address on his website. He is active on the forum also. A PM or a thread started here will get you the answers you want or need. It has been said many times that his service to the REO owners is the best. Read some of the other threads where people have a problem or question. You will quickly see that things are handled promptly.

As far as the REO's as a PV, they are hassle free. They are durable. Easily maintained, and serviced.

Parts can be ordered on the reosmods site. Or if needed you can send your REO in for servicing and have it back in a matter of days.

I just suggest you read. You will quickly see that you can't go wrong with a REO.

The REO community welcomes new owners and give support as needed.

You want a PV that is rugged, and dependable? Just get a REO!

If you want rugged and dependable, you've come to the right place. Just order a couple of extra springs (they're designed to collapse in the event of a short), and an extra tube, o-ring and cap set - you'll be set for a long time.

Ok I can live with that so far, I consider those things consumable on bottom feeders

Hi Katie :) Welcome! I think the most common part that needs addressing is the spring. Atties & adapters with poorly set center pins are the most common culprit for shorts, the second most common is the over tightening of an atty/carto. The spring is heat sensitive so it collapses in the event of a short, stopping the discharge of the battery and eventual damage to the battery and/or the mod. It's a great safety feature, but it does need to be replaced once it has been cooked as it is unlikely to work the same way a second time.

Please do not use atties or cartos with a center pin that is protruding. It will more than likely short.

Rob is a great person to deal with. The best way to reach him is by PM or phone. He's been doing this for a while now and the size of this community is a testament to his level of CS. His top priority is that you have a working mod that is keeping you smoke free, regardless of whether this is your first REO or twentieth. :) Ours too! So if you have any questions come drop us a post or PM. We'll give you a hand!

Rob's customer service is seriously the best in the business, you can read some of the threads in this forum to see how quickly he responds to questions or problems. The world would be a better place if every company had such great CS! As for the REO. he uses good strong components to build his REOs. The only problem I have had were not due to the REO, but due to a carto that shorted my REO, but you can purchase an extra spring and replace that yourself easily. The feed tube he uses is stout and should last a good long time, the body is airplane grade aluminum which will probably last a lifetime. I took REOs to my kids in December, I am so impressed by the ease of use and ease of care for them, I would give my kids nothing but the best.

It's in my post about the magnet.

I dropped the door on a hard floor and the magnet popped out. I suspect it was just an unlucky drop, hit just right to pop it out. Never could find it - they are quite small magnets.

I put the new one in with a drop of superglue like I was told and no problems since.

The REO is actually my second bottom feeder. I went from a plain joye 510 to an Old Goat mod, to a REO. I've been vaping on and off for about 2 years. The REO is my fav because it feels so solid and I don't have to worry about dropping it or the cats knocking it off the table. :)

As long as you are already acquainted with bottom feeders and have the bottle press figured out, I would say you are primed for a Reo. I have had mine about 6 weeks now and love it. The bottle press does not take much, like most do.
I read the Reo threads a couple times before I purchased a Grand, from the classies, and once I had it in my hand I purchased a mini from the classies! Then I went to the website and purchased a couple magnets/bottles and springs, just in case! Today the springs came in handy. After 2 years plus of vaping I ran into an atomizer that the center post had sunk in on one side and the spring collapsed. I had read about this many times and wondered what it would be like to experience. Now I know. The Grand did exactly what it was supposed to do. Battery is fine, checked it on a multimeter. Got my magnifying glass out and sure enough, the center post was crooked and there was a slight electric type smell inside my Grand.
If you have the dropsies, be sure to get a cover for yours. I am sure they hold up well to being dropped, but I like to keep a flawless finish on mine-lol. Both of mine have a strip of tape at the bottom of the door. I also read that people do this to keep the door from some rattle noise. I have yet to hear this though, so the tape works and is on the inside-so no worries with that for me.
Rob is going to have button tops made to make it more comfortable for those who chain vape. I will be purchasing a couple for my Reo's. It isn't that bad really, but I am all in for more comfort.
Everything you ever wanted, needed or will need to know is in the Reo forum and anyone who owns one is more than happy to help you out in a time of need for information. But really, it's already in here-you just need to read and read. It wasn't that bad of a read for me. I enjoy soaking in all the info on a good mod and the Reos really are wonderful mods to own, a pleasure really.

I chain vape and the button on the Vmod XL is a copy of the Reo I think, it sure looks like it, if it is, it did not pphase me one but, unless I forgot to turn it around to fire ;)

On covering the Reo, I was already trying to design a neoprene or rubberized cover for my XL for when I am doing farm chores. I don't dare take the Grip out, way to pretty I would be scared to death to ding the wood, it is my desk mod for now.

karmakatie: Glad to see you found the REO forum. Good group here.

I my self use the Woodvil or Grand for the most part. I vape around 6ml per day and have several mods going at once to keep me happy. (I work from home)
Grand & Woodvil uses a 18650 battery with a 6ml juice bottle.

I love mine with a Cisco 1.5 atty (Hot atty) some times I will toss in two Lifpo3 3.0 battery's for 6v ad drop on a 3.0 atty. (good hot set up)

Fit and finish on the mods are A+ IMO
All mine work as well as the day I got them. Some are almost two years old.

I started with a used Original Woodvil Rob has come a long ways from there.

Spare parts can be found on the REO Site. I would pick up a few springs and tube and bottle set up. But you may never use them.

Rob's customer service is A+++ IMO. He stops in on the forum every day and is can be reached by Email. If you look his site his phone # is posted there as well.

All his contact info is on his web site.

Feel free to PM me any time about any thing at all.

I've been using a Grand everyday for over a year and I've really tried to kill it. Attys, cartos, adapters, 3.7 volts, 5 volts, 6 volts... dropped more times than I can count, knocked over...

Other than some scratches and a couple of dents, it still works as well as the day I started using it. I've replaced the feed tube a couple of times, but mine has the original thin wall tubing and I'm not gentle with it when swapping bottles.

I haven't even managed to collapse the spring.

Oh yeah, you might hear grumblings about the door rattling audibly. If you like to shake your PV, it will probably rattle. My vaping was never enhanced by shaking my Grand like a maraca, so I don't have that problem.
