I know there are at least a few threads on this mod already but nothing answering my specific question as far as I'm aware. If there is a thread addressing my issue please feel free to link me to it and I'll just take my concerns there.

I have the original version of the mod with the floating pin and now I hear there is a problem with them where the spring faisl at sub-ohms. How likely is it to fail? Are there any plans for a recall on the original that anyone's aware of or is there a way to switch the pin out on my own? Or am I just stuck with this pin and should just keep it above 1 ohm?

I concur with Susan~S. Since Pioneer4You changed the pin design between batches because they are worried about meltdowns at low ohms, I would contact your vendor first and then attempt to contact Pioneer4You. I have the non-floating version of the 7-22 so I am unsure if you could swap anything out to get rid of the spring. It's possible you may need an entirely new head unit if the design is different enough. Any way you can shoot some clear pictures of the interior of the 510 connector where the pin is at? I may be able to compare it to mine and possibly determine if there is a DIY fix.
