Hi Rukw93. There are juice recipes that claim to be shake and vape type. In my opinion ALL juices tend to benefit from "steeping". Some/most tobacco's take up to a month or more for them to reach their full maturity in a recipe. I try and let cremes steep for a month and fruits a week. Your mileage may vary.
You can find more info on steep by using the search box in the upper right above your name and avatar. Type in "steep", or any other vape related word.
Good luck.

I agree that all recipes benefit from aging. However, if it's a fruit vape that I just made, and I'm feeling particularly impatient that night, I will vape it immediately after mixing and it tastes great. Aging tends to allow the flavors to get to know each other, say 'Hey, whats up?', and get all cozy. I usually allow my fruit vapes to age for 3 days, creams and custards for a week, and tobacco's 3 weeks.

The answer to your question though OP... There is no answer. Everyone is different. DO what works for you. When you make a batch, split it into 5 containers. Vape the first in the first week, the second, on the second week, and so on. This will allow you to find out where you find your recipes taste the best. Good luck.

I only air the ones that have an alcohol or perfume smell to them.

I make mostly creams, custards, cakes, no fruits really -- and I always try to steep them a bit before vaping. Some are good the next day, some take a week or two, but as said above, all of them benefit from steeping - they just keep getting better and better!

Why do some ppl say DIY juice can just be shaken and ready to use...vs. others claim they shake the bottle and let it rest for a week for bubbles to escape??

There seems to be No End to the Techniques that people say is the Best way to "Steep" an e-Liquid.

I have Tried many of them. Cap On. Cap Off. Shaken. Stirred. Rock Tumbler. Taped Ceiling Fan Blades. Heat Bath. Ultrasound. Etc.

To Me, and the Non-Tobacco Flavors I mix, they all did about the Same Thing as just Leaving the e-Liquid in a Cool Dark Place with the Cap on for 4 ~ 5 Days. So being an Inherently Lazy person by nature, I just mix and come back 5 Days Later and Vape.

Perhaps if I was in a Huge Hurry to use an e-Liquid, I might go thru some of the Iterations that some do to Shave some time off those 4 ~ 5 Days. But I seldom are. So the Extra Work and Extra Effort isn't all that Beneficial to me.

But Everyone is Different. And Taste is Subjective, So the Best way to "Steep" is the one you like the Best. Or the One that Achieves the Same results with Lest amount of Effort.

Airing:
Not really the bubbles... Some juices have a perfume type taste. When I first get a juice, I shake it, then take the top and the nozzle off the bottle. I leave it off for about 2-3 days. Since many of the flavors Ejuice uses are made from flavorings designed for food, it may have a bit of alcohol. In baking, the alcohol usually evaporates during the baking process, but in Ejuice, it won't evaporate in the bottle with a closed cap. And if it's still on the juice when you vape it, it will make it taste kind of perfumy or bitter. Some of the flavoring extracts use Propylene glycol instead of alcohol, so it may not need as much airing.

Steeping:
When an ejuice is made, they simply add propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, nicotine, and flavoring(s) and shake.. then they ship or sell it. Even though every one of those ingredients are not an oil type and will mix together, they all have slightly different densities. They will mix, but it will take a while for them to "meld together". This process can take a few weeks up to a month (and some times even more). This changes the flavors, and most of the time, to a great degree. It can also change the color of the juice, and darken it. This is called steeping. There are several methods people use "speed steep"... some give it a warm water bath, others put the bottle in a sonic cleaner. Me, I just use the good ole time method.

Here's how I steep:

First, I take the bottle of e-juice to an elevation greater than 40,000 ft above sea level. I've found that this helps thin the juice and separates the ingredients in the flavoring. While still at 40k ft above sea level, I warm the juice to exactly 75.7 degrees Fahreinheit. Any hotter and the juice bottle will shatter. Any colder and the juice will take on a very "seafood" flavor that I can't quite find the science to explain.

Next, with the bottle warmed to exactly 75.7 degrees, I eat a large meal. Preferably at somewhere like a Smith & Wollensky's. I get the iceberg wedge salad and a 28 oz sirloin steak. After I've had my meal, I take the bottle of juice and flip it upside down. I let it sit, upside down, for about 2 months.

During the 2 months, I perform a daily rain dance near the bottle of e-liquid. Be careful during this step, as you do not want to anger the Ifrits. They are winged creatures of fire, and can only be removed with some high-level magic. You can drive a stake or nail through its chest while it's manifesting to get rid of it, but you've got to act fast.

Once 2 months has elapsed, I take the bottle of juice (which has been upside down this whole time) and flip it right side up. Now we're ready for the First Step. We admit that we are powerless over alcohol, and that our lives have become unmanageable. Once you've completed the 12-step program, we're ready to do, what I call, "emancipating" the e-juice.

Tell the e-juice that it is henceforward free, and that it no longer needs to feel the binding chains of oppression through slavery. Affirm that the e-juice is the master of its own universe, and now, with this new set of rights, can achieve whatever it puts its mind to. Naturally, the juice will be somewhat shaken up by this news, and it might need some time to reflect. Give it a month, 30 days EXACTLY. If it's a month with 31 days (or if it's February), you may need to do some maths to figure out the correct date. Here's some advice: If it's June 1st when the juice begins its revelations, give it till July 1st.

Now, and only now, is our e-juice ready for vaping. Make sure you have a Rabbi bless it as Kosher.

...

Just kidding I just let it sit in a drawer until it tastes good, shaking it occasionally. Let it breathe if it gets a chemical or alcoholic flavor.

I've got an apple menthol I make that I mix up and vape immediately. I have noticed recently that the flavor does tend to get better as I work my way through the bottle. I used to make 15 ml bottles and went through it pretty quick. I've gone to mixing it in 30ml bottles and that's where I notice the flavor getting better near the end - takes a week or so to use it up.

Wow nyiddle. That is a very tedious but also hilarious steeping method. Had to read it a paragraph at a time so I could stop to catch my breath from laughing so hard.

That's what it feels like these days. Everyone has their own crazy method, and in the end, I think letting it sit for 2 weeks does the same as putting it in hot water and an ultrasonic and then letting it sit for 2 weeks.

Maybe I'm lazy, or maybe I'm just reaching the same means with less effort. Either way, I'm not about to go all-out to steep my massive collection of e-liquid.

Depends on the chemistry.
Some flavors are oil based.
Oil based flavors will take longer to blend/mix.

If everything is water basted, it's going to mix faster.

I believe that Oil Based Flavor never fully go into Solution with PG, VG and Nicotine. And will Always Separate.

But I don't Vape Oil Based Flavors. So I am only going off what People have Told/Showed me.

This has been my experience also. I make my own juices and I mix to vape them immediately. Most recipes will change flavor over time, some more than others and some for the better. Because I make mine to vape immediately I don't make more than a couple of weeks worth at a time. Works for me, but YMMV as always ;)

steeping includes materials (solids) that are included in the juice... if your juice doesnt have solids in it then its aging.
one steeps tea, and ages wine for example... I do steep my tobacco DIYNETS but filter out the tobacco after steeping and then age the juice :)

Unfortunately, 'steeping' is already too solidified into vaping culture. It will be quite the task for the correct term to be adopted. :/

I'm glad it's this simple... I've been reading up on how to make Alien Aztech Whisky... has something to do with blood rituals, probes, and some guy named Daniels.

I agree. I never liked the term "Steeping".

But like many Slang terms, if it is used Enough Times by Enough People, it becomes what people use to describe something.

Even if it was an Incorrect term in the First Place.

I dont buy into the aging stuff. I've made my own juice for the past 2 years. I started with a very complex vanilla custard recipe that "has to steep for 28 days". Well, 28 days later, it still sucked. I created my own custard....very simple and easy. 3 ingredients and one of them is optional. Mix it, shake it and then put it in hot tap water for 10 minutes. Shake it again and vape. Its as good on day 1 as it is on day 28....but it won't last 28 days.
I'm a giver :
13% Capella vanilla custard
3% TFA vanilla bean ice cream
1% TFA cotton candy (optional)

Try it....it doesn't have to be complicated to be good.
