Shelf life of E-liquid

I was just curious about the shelf life of e-liquid and the best ways to store it (in the fridge, freezer, cool dark cabinet, etc.). I'm planning on loading up on the liquid (maybe a 6 month to 1 year supply).

I want to do this for 2 reasons:

1. If the government decides to crack down on e-cig sales. NJ is 1 of 8 states where stun guns are completely ILLEGAL and we even have indoor e-cig vaping bans. We have some pretty backwards laws here and the government loves to restrict everything here.
2. Everytime I run out of e-liquid I'm right back to smoking analogs.

Makes you wonder, what exactly IS the premise for banning vaping indoors?? Without second hand smoke, wtf are they worried about?

I wish I had buttloads of money so I could bring up lawsuits against states that are making these bass-akwards laws. It just doesn't make sense to me. Who is it harming? I have very little tolerance for ignorance, and this just reeks of it.

You get plenty of opinions on this and I will throw mine out there.

1. Some suppliers have started putting dates on their product and that should be an requirement cause you don't know how long it sit on their shelf. The fresher the liquid the better it be. It does have a shelf life and that would depend on how it is made and stored. All suppliers should step to the plate and put expiration dates on their liquid.

2. I prefer to store my liquid in a Full dark glass bottle. Llike anything, air and light will break down the flavor and nicotine, so I have several sizes of bottles. Glass, because plastic can leach flavors and smells into your liquid over time. A small plastic bottle can be used for daily use.

3. Store in a dark, dry, cool place. I think of it like this, treat it like you would good beer, or wine.

I thought about this long and hard. (whew.. my 2 brain cells are tired).

I decided to just stock up on high strength unflavored and just mix my own. Flavoring won't get banned.

As noted storing them in glass containers, out of the light, in a cool environment will make them last longer.

Also you may store a large supply in your refrigerator as long as it's not your everyday use bottles in there as the cold can make the liquids thicker and not vape as easily.

Thanks great info everyone. So I guess it's mostly common sense then. If I had to guess, PG and VG probably wouldn't freeze in a freezer (not too sure about pure nic) so does anyone store their long term juices in the freezer (in a brown glass bottle) or is this just overkill?

I think the refigerator is overkill enough to not have to deal with freezing.

Id be worried if certain parts did freeze, and separate, that youd have to worry about hot spots in the juice, or be very careful to mix it back up.

that is coming from someone with no working knowledge of what temperature the components of the liquid might react differently at.

All you can do is, as previously stated, store in glass bottles, dark green, blue etc are good, and store in a cool dark place.

I would be careful about the refrigerator for your flavored juices though. I read somewhere on here that "some" of the flavorings could separate and spoil over a six month period. But unflavored juices are fine and like Petbe said 2 years is the expected life. I'll see if I can find the thread.

All you can do is, as previously stated, store in glass bottles, dark green, blue etc are good, and store in a cool dark place.

My bottle of Dekang Litchi says on the label that e-liquids expire 24months from the date of purchase.

I'm still using year old juices from time to time, and haven't noticed any change in flavor, color, or nicotine
